The Beaumont Mayfair
First Impressions
Walking up to The Beaumont Mayfair on Balderton Street, you immediately sense you’re about to experience something special. The art deco façade catches your eye first — it’s this gorgeous 1920s building that feels both timeless and distinctly London. I mean, you’re literally steps away from Selfridges, but the moment you step inside, all that Oxford Street chaos just melts away.
The Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re in the heart of Mayfair, which honestly doesn’t get more central than this. Bond Street tube is a two-minute walk, and you can actually see the back of Selfridges from some windows. But unlike those massive chain hotels that dominate this area, The Beaumont feels intimate and residential. Brown Hart Gardens is right there too, which is this quirky little elevated garden that most tourists completely miss.
Luxury Redefined
This five-star hotel gets luxury right without being stuffy about it. The lobby has these incredible murals and original art deco details that make you want to just sit with a drink and people-watch. Every room I’ve seen here feels more like a sophisticated London apartment than a typical hotel space — think rich fabrics, custom furniture, and those little touches that show someone actually thought about how you’d live in the space.
Dining Experience
The Colony Grill Room downstairs is where the magic really happens. It’s got this old-school American brasserie vibe, but the execution is pure London sophistication. Their restaurant serves what might be the best burger in Mayfair (I know, I know, but trust me on this), alongside more refined options that’ll impress even the most discerning palates. The cocktails are exceptional too — the bartenders actually know what they’re doing, which isn’t always a given even at this level.
Why Guests Love It
You know what sets The Beaumont apart? It’s the details that matter when you’re actually staying somewhere. The service feels personal without being intrusive, the concierge team knows Mayfair inside and out, and there’s this ROOM sculpture suite by Antony Gormley that’s become legendary (though honestly, it’s not for everyone). The hotel attracts interesting people — artists, writers, fashion folks — so there’s always this creative energy buzzing around. Plus, with a 9.3 rating, guests consistently rave about the experience, and after spending time here, I completely understand why.
