Overview
First Impressions
The Argyle Collection near Kings Cross St Pancras – by Short Stories London caught me off guard in the best way possible. You know how sometimes you book a place expecting decent and get something that actually feels thoughtful? That’s exactly what happened here. The building sits on a quiet stretch of Argyle Street, and honestly, you’d walk right past it if you weren’t looking — which is part of its charm.
Location That Actually Works
Here’s the thing about staying near Kings Cross — everyone talks about the transport links, but what they don’t mention is how much London has changed around here. I mean, this used to be the dodgy bit, and now you’ve got Coal Drops Yard literally around the corner with its weekend markets and that brilliant browsing you can lose hours to. The four-star property puts you close enough to the action but far enough that you’re not dealing with the constant tourist chaos of central areas.
The Room Experience
My room was smaller than what you’d get in a chain hotel, but cleverly designed in that way London places have mastered out of necessity. The bed was properly comfortable — not just hotel-marketing comfortable — and the shower had decent pressure, which you honestly can’t take for granted in older London buildings. There’s something about the way they’ve decorated these spaces that feels more like staying in a well-appointed apartment than a generic hotel room.
Neighborhood Discoveries
What I really appreciated was stumbling onto Brunswick Square just a few minutes’ walk away — it’s one of those Georgian squares that feels like a local secret, even though it’s not really. The area around Russell Square is perfect for those early morning walks before the city wakes up, and there’s a proper old-school pub called The Lamb on Lamb’s Conduit Street that serves food until late. You won’t find that information in most guidebooks, but it saved me more than once after long days exploring.
Why Guests Love It
The staff at The Argyle Collection actually seem to know the neighborhood — not just the tourist spots, but the stuff that makes staying here feel less like visiting and more like temporarily living in London. They pointed me toward a fantastic little restaurant on Marchmont Street that I never would have found otherwise. Plus, with both St. Pancras and Euston stations within easy walking distance, you can be in Paris by lunchtime or up in Edinburgh before dinner — though honestly, you might find yourself wanting to stick around and explore this corner of Camden more than you expected.

"Wonderful for the family!"
The property is spacious and super clean, well equipped. Close to the King’s Cross station - which made it easy to go around.

"Perfect Perfect Perfect"
I used to live in London and this little apartment brought the best memories for me. The location was perfect. So close to everything yet tucket away. The place was well equipped and organized to accommodate a long stay for a couple or a small family. The outside patio was amazing!! It's my new "go to" for all future trips in London.
What could be improved: It can get a bit noisy with the kids playground on the back but honestly nothing to complain considering you are in one of the busiest places in Europe

"Excellent location and quality"
It was quite an easy process
What could be improved: The key is at a near by location with few minutes walk. The address and street names can be confusing.

Very spacious, well-equipped and designed apartment, close to the train station and public transportation. Very friendly and helpful staff. The staff went out of the way to arrange a baby seat for us last minute, which was really kind.
What could be improved: Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the apartment. Minor issues for improvement: temperature control seems to be fixed, the apartment is heated up soon on a sunny day and it seems we could not lower the temperature but opening the windows to cool off. The street can be noisy at night and early morning due to open windows.

"Absolutely perfect and stress free."
The property was lovely and clean and was better than photos. The amenities in the property were we’re great. We were there at the height of the heatwave and there were 3 large fans that were definitely needed in the weather and greatly appreciated.
Location was perfect for what we wanted. And location to Kings Cross/ St Pancras was less than a minute walk.
We arrived into London earlier than expected and we were able to check in earlier than expected which was a massive bonus.
Obviously this was because the property was tenant free on day we arrived. But I asked what the likelihood of checking in earlier would be and it wasn’t an issue at all. Being a seasoned traveler this rarely happens.
What could be improved: I don’t think I could complain about anything in the house.
The only thing I would say, but I do believe it’s reiterated in the property listing is, as it’s the ground floor flat, the stairs to get down to front door would be difficult for somebody with mobility issues.

"Looking for a lovely place to settle down for any duration? This is for you."
Very nice location, decent facilities with a lovely garden.
What could be improved: The noise from the upstairs which seems to be a lobby of another hotel.

Great location and home from home
What could be improved: Front windows could do with double glazing as street at front is soooo noisy

"Had the best weekend!"
The house had a perfect location, the host was very friendly and helpful, gave clear instructions. The place was spotless clean with all necessary kitchen and bathroom amenities( except for some reason there was no cutlery which was a shame). Overall very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend!
What could be improved: Quite noisy due to the location but it’s expected and not the owners fault.

Location and facilities in the apartment was great. 3 minutes walk from King Cross station and buses outside. You can hear the trains but it’s ok for us.
What could be improved: Wished there is a lockbox is at the property instead of retrieving and sending the keys back at a hotel nearby. I could not open the main door with the key. Luckily my husband was open to but using some strength and a bit of force!

"Regardless of the bathroom issue it was amazing and we would stay there again."
It is so close to the Kings Cross Station which allows you to see all of London. We arrived very late and I was happy the checkin was still available at the partner hotel front desk. Also- the staff was VERY quick to respond to our questions and addressed them.
What could be improved: The bathroom ventilation was very poor. After each shower is was extremely hot and humid and there was a little smell of mildew which I assumed was from poor ventilation.
