Overview
First Impressions
The Angerstein Hotel sits on Woolwich Road like it’s been part of the Greenwich landscape forever — which, honestly, it sort of has. This three-star spot doesn’t try to be something it’s not, and that’s actually refreshing. The Victorian building has character written all over it, from the original features they’ve kept to the way the front entrance feels genuinely welcoming rather than flashy.
Location & Greenwich Charm
Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re properly in Greenwich, not just visiting it. The Observatory is a decent walk up the hill (bring comfortable shoes), but the Cutty Sark and Maritime Museum are much closer. What really works is how you can slip into local rhythms here. There’s a proper pub just down the road, and the morning dog walkers heading to Greenwich Park will become part of your daily scenery.
The Room Experience
My room was what you’d expect from a well-maintained Georgian conversion — not huge, but thoughtfully arranged. The bathroom was compact but functional, and honestly, the bed was more comfortable than I anticipated. They’ve managed to keep some period details without making everything feel museum-like. The heating actually works properly too, which matters more than you’d think during a London winter.
Getting Around & Practical Bits
The DLR connection from Cutty Sark makes getting into central London surprisingly straightforward — I mean, you’re looking at maybe 20 minutes to Bank. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle around here, but the hotel staff know the area well enough to point you toward the best options. The Thames Path is literally on your doorstep if you fancy a riverside walk, and trust me, it’s one of the nicer stretches.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
What strikes me about The Angerstein Hotel is how it delivers exactly what it promises — decent accommodation in a genuinely interesting part of London without the central tourist prices. The staff remember your name after a day or two, and there’s something to be said for that personal touch. You’re not getting a fancy restaurant or elaborate amenities, but you are getting a solid base for exploring one of London’s most historic areas. Sometimes that’s precisely what you need.

"Very nice, would recommend :)"
The staff was very helpful and nice. The room was big and tidy, the beds comfortable.
What could be improved: The area was a bit scary at night, especially alone as a young woman but at daytime it was all right.

30 minutes walk to the O2 and the staff were very friendly.
What could be improved: Nothing really. It was a shared shower and toilet but I think I was aware when I booked.

"Great stay! Thank you"
Loved everything! The location was perfect for us, and we appreciated how quiet it was on the top floor. The bathrooms were very clean.
What could be improved: No way to get water from the tap, as kettle was too large. So no way to clean the tap water.
Also, was panicked about card cloning when both of our cards were asked to be inserted into the machine. Felt like we had to give a lot of information that we'd already given, so induced some panic about identity theft.

"Will return."
We stayed here because of the ease to get to the O2. Car parking was easy and strightforward and not expensive. Checking in and out were straightforward. The staff were professional but friendly. The 4 bed room we stayed in was spacious and very clean. They was adequate room for clothes and a handy washbasin in the room, with a shared bathroom between us and two other rooms on the same floor.
What could be improved: There wasn't anything we didn't like. Would be a bonus to have access to another shared toilet though.

"Great stay"
The location for the O2 arena was fantastic. Really easy to get to the venue. Staff were lovely. Room and ensuite were exceptionally clean, as were the communal areas. Ran out of milk and sugar and staff provided more when asked. Bed was comfortable, pillows not so much. Room was warm and plenty of storage for 2 people for 2 nights. Shower was lovely and hot. Would definitely stay again if attending the O2.
What could be improved: Only complaint was lack of sleep, however this was only because other guests were slamming doors at 2/3/4AM.

Clean and comfortable, no frills stay. Don't expect anything luxury, because.you're not paying luxury prices. Easy check in and out, friendly staff. Perfect for a 15min walk to The o2.
