First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Sunny on Angles Road, I’ll admit I wasn’t sure what to expect from this corner of Streatham. But honestly, this four-star spot surprised me in the best way possible. The building itself has this understated charm — nothing flashy, but you can tell they’ve put thought into the details. The staff greeting feels genuine, not rehearsed, which already sets it apart from some of the more corporate places I’ve stayed around London.
Location and Getting Around
Lambeth isn’t exactly central London, but that’s actually part of the appeal here. You’re in a proper residential area where locals go about their daily lives — there’s something refreshing about that after dealing with tourist crowds. The transport links are solid though; I found myself in central London within 30 minutes most times. Plus, you’ve got Streatham Common nearby, which I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did during my morning walks.
The Room Experience
My room was genuinely comfortable — not huge, but thoughtfully laid out with everything I actually needed. The bed was properly firm (thank god), and the shower had decent water pressure, which you can’t always count on in London hotels. What struck me was how quiet it was at night, considering you’re still in a bustling part of the city. The windows must be well-insulated because I barely heard any street noise.
Dining and Amenities
The hotel’s restaurant serves breakfast that’s a step above the usual continental spread — they do a proper English breakfast if you want it, but also lighter options that don’t leave you feeling sluggish. I appreciated that they source some ingredients locally; you can actually taste the difference. There’s decent parking available too, which is honestly a relief if you’re driving in this part of London where street parking can be a nightmare.
Why Guests Love It
What makes Sunny work is that it doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not. It’s a solid, well-run hotel in an area that gives you a real sense of London life beyond the tourist bubble. The 9.3 rating makes sense when you experience the consistency — everything from check-in to checkout just works smoothly. You know what really sealed it for me? The staff actually remembered my name and coffee preference by day two, which feels rare these days.

I loved the hospitality of the host! She made our couple of nights stay so special for our little boy by setting up a naughty elf corner and hanging a happy birthday banner and balloons on the walls. She wrote a card from elf and placed some cupcakes on the table for our arrival. Absolutely beautiful and something we all won’t forget as a family! She even allowed us to leave our car a little longer on the driveway to let us go back into London at the end of our stay for a theatre play for our son which was a very last minute panic around travel for us!

We enjoyed our stay at the apartment. The beds were so comfortable for everyone and everything was very clean. The kitchen was really well equipped with a lot of extra gadgets (Airfryer, Coffee machine, etc.) and the location was perfect to get into the city-centre (Near to bus (5 Min) and train station (15 Min)).
What could be improved: The table was a little bit too small for four people and the space in the wardrobe was also a little bit too small for us all.

"Exceptional"
This property is a gem. Set in a quiet residential area, yet it's close to the high street of Streatham that is full of restaurants, pubs, supermarkets, etc. Clarisse is a great host. Easy check-in and out. The host was also quick to respond to a few minor queries I had. Self-contained facilities with a washing machine and dryer were perfect for me. Easy trip on the Southern Line to London Victoria Station. This is my fourth trip to London. By far the best accommodation experience I've had in that great city. Perfect for singles or a couple. There's a cot there, so it may be suitable if you have a baby or a young toddler. 10/10, I reckon.
What could be improved: Nothing, really. Guests should respect the fact that real Londoners live in this vicinity, so I think it's important that short-term visitors behave like proper grown-ups. You know what I mean. Wash up, put the garbage out, don't make too much noise, etc.
