Studio Flat in West Hampstead
First Impressions
Studio Flat in West Hampstead isn’t your typical hotel — it’s actually a self-contained apartment that feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a commercial property. The building on Narcissus Road is one of those classic London conversions, and honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by how well-maintained everything looked when I first arrived. You know what struck me most? The fact that it genuinely feels like a local neighborhood rather than a tourist zone.
Location & West Hampstead Charm
West Hampstead is one of those areas that locals love but visitors often overlook — which is exactly why it works so well. You’re genuinely in a residential part of London where people actually live and work, not just pass through with cameras. The Jubilee line station is about a 7-minute walk, and I mean a proper walk, not one of those “5 minutes” that turns into 15 when you’re dragging luggage. There’s a Sainsbury’s Local practically around the corner, plus some decent pubs that don’t feel like they’re trying too hard.
The Space Itself
This four-star studio is compact but cleverly designed — someone clearly thought about how to make the space work. The kitchen area has everything you’d actually need if you want to cook a proper meal, not just heat up soup. I particularly appreciated the decent-sized fridge and the fact that there were actual plates and proper cutlery, not plastic nonsense. The room doubles as living space during the day, and while it’s not huge, it never felt cramped.
Practical Considerations
The WiFi works well — I had video calls without issues, which honestly can be hit or miss in London apartments. Parking in this area is residents-only during the day, but there are some evening spots on nearby streets if you’re driving. The building itself is quiet, which surprised me given it’s on a fairly busy road. You’ll hear the occasional bus, but it’s not the kind of noise that keeps you awake.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place special is that authentic London residential experience — you’re staying where real people live, shopping where they shop, using the same transport links. It’s not glamorous in an Instagram way, but it’s genuinely comfortable and well-located for exploring both central London and some of the more interesting northern neighborhoods. The value is solid too, especially when you factor in having your own space and kitchen facilities. I’d definitely stay here again, particularly for longer trips when hotel living starts to feel a bit restrictive.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
