Studio Apartment by Homely Stays sits right on Aldgate High Street — and I mean right on it. You’re basically stepping out into one of London’s most historically rich areas the moment you leave the building. The entrance is tucked between the buzz of street-level shops, which honestly took me a minute to find the first time, but once you’re inside, it feels surprisingly quiet and removed from the chaos outside.
The Space
This four-star setup is exactly what it says on the tin — a proper studio that doesn’t try to pretend it’s something bigger. The kitchen area is compact but actually functional (I made coffee and scrambled eggs without issue), and the main space flows well between sleeping and living areas. What surprised me was how much natural light floods in during the day, which you don’t always expect in the City of London. The room feels modern without being sterile, if that makes sense.
Location Perks
Here’s what I loved about staying here — you’re literally a three-minute walk to Aldgate East tube station, which puts you on the District and Hammersmith & City lines. But more importantly, you’re right at the edge where the financial district meets the East End’s creative energy. I could grab morning coffee from the little places along Whitechapel Road, then walk to Tower Bridge in about ten minutes. The area has this great mix of old pubs and newer spots that locals actually use.
Practical Details
The building itself is well-maintained, and check-in was smooth through their system. You know what I appreciated? The WiFi actually worked properly for video calls (always a gamble with London rentals), and the shower had decent pressure. There’s no parking on-site, but honestly, you don’t need a car here — everything’s walkable or a quick tube ride away. The noise level was totally manageable even with the street-facing windows, though you’ll hear some late-night activity on weekends.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t a place with a fancy lobby or room service, but that’s kind of the point. It’s a proper London base that gives you independence without the hotel fuss. The location puts you right in the thick of things — I could walk to Borough Market for lunch, catch a show in Shoreditch after dinner, or just wander the ancient streets around here. For the price point in this part of London, especially with that 9-rating from other guests, it actually delivers on what most travelers really want: a clean, functional space in an unbeatable spot.

"Exceptional"
Perfect apartment for tranquility and location. Near Tower Bridge, you have the bus stop and the Aldgate metro station one minute away, which in turn is one stop from Liverpool Street central station, where the train from Standed airport arrives. Supermarket next door to the building, very quiet to rest. The hosts were attentive to us at all times. The apartment has everything, kitchen, own bathroom, bed, sofa bed, heating, perfect. I recommend it 100%

"Exceptional"
A pleasant and clean apartment, has everything you'll need. Great location, very close to the Aldgate Metro and Bus station. The apartment has 3 small supermarkets and resturaunts close by.

"Kedves kis apartaman közel a városközponthoz"
Kedves kis tiszta apartman, szépen berendezve, nagyon közel Aldgete metró állomáshoz, biztonságos környéken, így a város felfedezésére tökéletes volt. Nagyon profi volt és tetszett az online chek-in, mindenről pontos tájékoztatást kaptunk fényképekkel, videókkal (hogy jutunk el az apartmanhoz, ajtó nyitása kóddal, fűtés bekapcsolása stb.). Az apartmanban volt saját felszerelt kis konyha és az apartman alatt volt egy bolt, így a reggelinket könnyen be tudtuk szerezni. A pótágy is kényelmes és nagy volt. Azt kaptuk ami ma leírásban szerepelt.
What could be improved: A kilátás nem volt annyira vonzó, de úgyis csak aludni jártunk ide. A metró a ház alatt haladt el, így még a 3. emeleten is hallani és érezni lehetett a zajt és a rezgést, amíg jártak a metrók. A francia ágyhoz egy nagy takaró volt, ezen kellett osztozkodnunk, sajnos nem volt plusz takaró, de ez már csak apróság.

"Superb"
L'appartement est extrêmement bien situé, au pied du métro Aldgate. Il est très bien équipé pour 4 personnes et nous avons vraiment pu cuisiner nos repas du soir (nous sommes restés 4 nuits) La salle de bain est grande, propre et le tout est très bien entretenu. Les gérants de cette location sont ultra réactifs à la moindre question et très agréables. Un endroit que nous recommandons +++
What could be improved: Il faut juste bien penser à prendre des boules quiess car le train à proximité se fait entendre. Les 2 lits sont très confortables, simplement un peu étroits (on n'a plus l'habitude 😉)

"Superb"
l'appartamento è situato in ottima posizione, a 1 minuto dalla metropolitana di Aldgate, a 6-7 minuti da quella di East Aldgate (che è su un'altra linea) e con fermata del bus sotto casa. A dieci minuti di passeggiata c'è la stazione di Liverpool street, ove partono/arrivano i treni per l'aeroporto di Stansted. In zona ci sono locali, negozi e qualche minimarket per tutte le esigenze. Brick Lane e Spitafield distano 10 minuti a piedi. Tower Bridge e London Tower distano 10-15 minuti a piedi o 5 minuti con il bus n.15 che ferma appunto sotto l'appartamento (e che raggiunge Trafalgar square in 45 minuti circa, qualora si volesse proseguire con questo mezzo)
Abbiamo trovato l'appartamento pulitissimo e dotato praticamente di tutto quello che serve, compresi prodotti per il bagno, per eventuali pulizie e zucchero/caffè/thè/cacao solubile/sale/pepe come supporto in cucina.
Asciugamani e lenzuola sono incluse.
Il bagno è ampio, così come la doccia, e dotato di lavatrice, il tutto perfettamente funzionante. Anche la cucina è comoda, fornita e funzionale in tutto.
Sia il letto che il divano letto sono comodi. Il riscaldamento è potente e molto semplice da utilizzare.
L'appartamento è in gestione ad una agenzia, che fornisce istruzioni precisissime sia per raggiungerlo ed entrare (serrature elettroniche, attraverso codici numerici personali forniti direttamente via telefono) sia per gestire i servizi (riscaldamento, TV, cucina ecc) anche con video inviati su whatsapp. Con noi sono stati super disponibili: dati gli orari dei nostri voli, ci hanno consentito un check-in anticipato e un check-out posticipato, consentendoci di fruire appieno dei nostri giorni di vacanza, dal primo all'ultimo minuto disponibile.
What could be improved: I gestori chiedono di espletare una procedura online, chiedendo anche fotocopia dei documenti e una caparra bloccata sulla carta di credito di 300 pounds. Niente che sia assurdo o illegale, sia chiaro, però questa cosa andrebbe scritta/spiegata su booking, visto che l'appartamento è prenotato tramite loro
La zona giorno non è particolarmente ampia e il tavolino ha solo due sedie, nonostante i 4 posti letto disponibili (noi siamo una famiglia di due adulti e due bimbi), quindi non consente eventualmente di mettersi a tavola tutti insieme.
Purtroppo la vicinanza di una linea della metropolitana fa sì che si senta abbastanza il rumore dei treni che passano, soprattutto al mattino presto o alla sera tarda.
Il nostro appartamento era al 3 piano e per raggiungerlo dall'ascensore bisogna cmq percorrere una mezza rampa di scale in discesa seguita da una in salita, rendendo un po' meno agevole lo spostamento con le valigie (e nel nostro caso anche per il passeggino)
