Spacious 1 Bed Apt in Central London SW5
First Impressions
Walking up to Spacious 1 Bed Apt in Central London SW5, you’d never guess from the Victorian terraced house exterior that you’re about to step into one of the most thoughtfully designed four-star apartments I’ve stayed in. The entrance on Penywern Road is unassuming — honestly, I walked past it twice before spotting the discreet number 48a. But once you’re inside, the space opens up in a way that genuinely surprised me.
The Space Itself
This isn’t your typical cramped London apartment where you’re bumping into furniture every five minutes. The living area actually feels roomy, with high ceilings that make everything feel airier than you’d expect in SW5. The kitchen is properly equipped too — I mean, you can actually cook a real meal here, not just heat up takeaway. The bedroom is separate from the main living space, which sounds obvious but you’d be amazed how many London rentals skimp on that basic privacy.
Location Perks
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re a genuine ten-minute walk to Earl’s Court tube station, and honestly, that connection opens up all of London. The Piccadilly line gets you straight to Heathrow without any faff, and you can be in Covent Garden or King’s Cross in about twenty minutes. What’s more, there’s a Tesco Express literally around the corner, plus that brilliant little Polish deli on Old Brompton Road that locals seem to know about.
The Neighborhood Feel
SW5 has this sort of residential charm that you don’t get in the more touristy bits of central London. During the day, you’ll see actual Londoners going about their business — dog walkers in the morning, parents picking up kids from the local primary school. The streets are tree-lined and quieter than you’d expect, but you’re still close enough to pop over to South Kensington’s museums or grab dinner in Kensington proper. I actually found myself walking to Natural History Museum one afternoon just because I could.
Why Guests Love It
Look, if you want hotel-style service with daily housekeeping and a concierge, this isn’t your place. But if you’re after a proper London base where you can spread out, cook your own breakfast, and live like a local for a week or two, this apartment delivers exactly that. The WiFi is solid (I worked from the dining table several mornings), there’s decent parking on the street if you’re mad enough to drive in London, and the whole setup just works. You know what really sold me? Coming back after a long day of sightseeing and having a proper sofa to collapse on instead of perching on the edge of a hotel bed.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
