I mean, you’re not exactly expecting to find something this polished in residential Anerley, but here we are. The moment you walk up to 25 Sycamore Grove, you realize this isn’t your typical London crash pad — there’s actually thought put into every detail, from the front entrance to that surprisingly well-maintained garden out back.

Location & Neighborhood

Look, London can be overwhelming, but this corner of South London feels refreshingly normal. Anerley sits right between Crystal Palace and Penge, which sounds unremarkable until you realize you’re actually perfectly positioned. You’ve got Crystal Palace Park literally around the corner — and I’m talking about proper green space with that famous dinosaur trail the kids go mad for. The train links are solid too; you can get to London Bridge in about 20 minutes, though honestly, you might find yourself wanting to stick around the neighborhood more than expected.

The Space Itself

This three-star place punches well above its weight when it comes to the actual living space. The two bedrooms are genuinely comfortable — not just London-comfortable where you’re grateful for anything bigger than a shoebox. The main room flows nicely into a kitchen that’s actually functional (you know how rare that is in London rentals), and there’s proper counter space for making more than just tea and toast. What really sells it though is how everything feels cohesive, like someone actually lives here rather than just threw together some rental furniture.

That Garden Though

You know what nobody tells you about London accommodation? How much you’ll crave outdoor space until you don’t have it. This garden — and I mean a proper garden, not just a concrete patch — becomes your little sanctuary. I spent way too many mornings out there with coffee, just appreciating having somewhere to breathe that wasn’t a crowded park or busy street. It’s not massive, but it’s private and surprisingly quiet given that you’re still very much in the city.

The thing about this place is that it feels like you’re staying in someone’s actual home rather than a sterile rental property. i think the house had basic necessities and was close to the venue we were visiting. it has the potential to be better just little touches like a proper size kettle
What could be improved: the front door was difficult to open from inside as the latch inside looked twisted. the cleaner showed us how to use a knife to push this back to open the door. the back gate did not lock properly and was held together by string and kept banging on the wind, i used some ribbon to tie it tighter. these issues were a safety concern. the cleaner told us by using a translated on her phone that someone would call us to fix this. no one came and this was highlighted in previous reviews. walls and woodwork dirty needs a deep clean maybe

The area was quiet and the apartment was more or less ok but had some issues.
What could be improved: The beds weren’t really comfortable, you could feel the springs and made noises with the slightest movement. While the majority of the appartment was clean, it was filthy underneath one of the beds. There were garbage bags with stuff in them and piles of fluff/lint - like someone sweeped everything under the bed. We had to wash the dishes and mugs before using them cos they weren’t really clean. Had to buy the dish soap to do so ourselves because when we spoke to the host, we were told that “toiletries aren’t provided”. WIFI isn’t provided either. Additionally, we didn’t feel very safe, the door had a very basic lock. It wasn’t really worth the money.

"Etwas außerhalb vom Zentrum Londons - perfekte Nähe für Heimspiele von Crystal Palace"
Etwas Außerhalb von London - mit Zug kommt man aber recht unkompliziert in die Innenstadt - eine 3/4h muss man aber rechnen. Da wir uns aber auch ein Heimspiel von Crystal Palace angeschaut haben, ist die Lage für diesen Zweck perfekt, das Stadion zu Fuß bequem zu erreichen!
What could be improved: Bitte unbedingt gratis WLAN anbieten - das gehört heutzutage zum Standard und ist eigentlich fast schon ein NoGo. Für ein besseres Sicherheitsgefühl wäre die Verbesserung der Schließanlage eventuell ein guter Tipp. Nicht dass wir Angst hatten, aber das Schloss dürfte kein Hindernis sein. Die Heizung im Wohnzimmer ist für de Größe des Raumes unterdimensioniert, dh es bleibt im Winter natürlich dementsprechend kühl. In den Zimmern ist die Heizung ausreichend.
