Overview
First Impressions
Rove Hotel London Paddington sits on Norfolk Square, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior — it looks like just another Victorian terrace that’s been converted. But step inside and you’ll find this four-star hotel has a surprisingly modern vibe that feels both polished and relaxed. The lobby’s got this clean, contemporary design with pops of color that immediately tell you this isn’t your typical stuffy London accommodation.
Location That Actually Works
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re literally a three-minute walk to Paddington Station, which means the Heathrow Express is right there when you need it. But Norfolk Square itself is this quiet residential pocket that feels removed from the chaos of the main roads. You know those moments when you step off a busy street and suddenly everything goes peaceful? That’s what walking into this square feels like, even though you’re still central to everything.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but smartly designed — they’ve clearly thought about how to maximize every inch without making it feel cramped. The bed was genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathroom had a proper shower with decent water pressure. What struck me most was the attention to detail — good lighting for actually reading, plenty of USB ports, and blackout curtains that work. Small things, but they add up when you’re trying to recover from jet lag.
Food and Social Spaces
The ground floor restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, and while it’s not going to win any culinary awards, the food is solid and the coffee is better than you’d expect. I actually ended up working in the lobby area a few times — there’s this communal table setup that encourages interaction without forcing it. The staff seemed genuinely friendly too, not just going through the motions.
Why Guests Love It
What makes Rove Hotel London Paddington work is that it strikes this balance between being practical and having personality. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on the basics while adding thoughtful touches that show someone actually cares about the guest experience. For travelers who want a reliable base in London without paying Mayfair prices, this place makes a lot of sense — especially if you value being near transport links but still want to sleep peacefully at night.
Guest reviews
"Had a pleasent stay, will stay again if the smelly drain is fixed."
Very helpful staff esp on check-in the young man helped us with our luggage, close to major popular sight-seeing spots, easy access by train.
What could be improved: Bathoom had a very strong drain smell, the basin didn't empty properly - this was because the hole was higher than the bottom of the basin. Crossing the path (mini stairs) to reach our room was an obsticle.

"too expensive for the service and amenities."
practically next door to Paddington train station, bed was very comfortable, quick check in and check out.
liked they provided carafes of water on arrival so we weren’t using the tap water.
What could be improved: room was quite small, bathroom door was glass so not great for privacy. room cleaning came very late in the day when we were back in the room, meaning we couldn’t get bedsheets changed throughout our stay. very draughty window, and the aircon in the room was very difficult to control.
could only get one TV channel and the remote seemed to be poorly calibrated so buttons didn’t produce the right effect.

"Excellent value for a solo business trip"
I was very pleased with my stay at Rove Hotel London Paddington. The hotel enjoys a superb location — just a short stroll from Paddington Station with easy access to central London, making it an ideal base for both sightseeing and business. My room was small but very clean and fairly-equipped, with a comfortable bed, air-conditioning, free WiFi, and a handy small fridge with coffee/tea facilities. For the price and location, it offers everything you need and nothing you don’t. I would happily stay here again on my next business visit to London.
What could be improved: Rooms are quite compact, and it can get a bit noisy at times. The staff were a bit dry — nothing unpleasant, just typical of a convenience-style hotel. Still, overall, the value and practicality more than make up for it.

"Very pleasant stay and did what we need for a short stay in London"
The location was great, if you’re booking close to Paddington station you should expect to hear the trains. The staff were really friendly, our door code didn’t work but they quickly resolved the problem.
What could be improved: Our bathroom door didn’t close properly, and there was a slight gap/draft from the window. We honestly weren’t in the room long enough for it to even really matter, but think it’s worth noting. Do think the tv is too big for the room, we had the small double and the tv was the width of the bed.
