Overview
First Impressions
Tucked away on a quiet residential street in Wandsworth, Renovated Charm – London Hideaway feels more like staying at a design-savvy friend’s place than a typical hotel. The moment I walked up to the entrance on Skylark Court, I could tell this wasn’t going to be your standard London accommodation — there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. This four-star property has clearly been renovated with care, keeping that authentic London townhouse character while adding all the modern touches you actually need.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Wandsworth isn’t where most tourists end up, and honestly, that’s exactly why I loved it here. You’re living among actual Londoners — there’s a proper high street just a few minutes’ walk away with independent coffee shops and that brilliant fishmonger everyone seems to know by name. The transport links are better than you’d expect too; Wandsworth Common station gets you into central London in about 15 minutes, but you can actually afford to eat dinner in the neighborhood without selling a kidney.
Your Home Base
Each room feels thoughtfully put together rather than decorated by committee. Mine had this great mix of vintage furniture and contemporary fixtures — nothing too matchy-matchy, but it all somehow worked together. The bed was properly comfortable (I’m talking hotel-quality mattress, not some budget nonsense), and there’s decent storage space, which you don’t always get in London properties. The bathroom renovation clearly happened recently; everything’s modern and the shower pressure is exactly what you want after walking around the city all day.
Local Living
What I really appreciated was having access to a shared kitchen area — not fancy, but well-equipped enough to make proper coffee in the morning or store groceries from that Sainsbury’s down the road. There’s something satisfying about being able to grab fresh ingredients from the local market and actually use them. The common areas have this relaxed vibe where you might chat with other guests, but nobody’s forcing awkward conversations if you just want to plan your day in peace.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this place isn’t trying to be the flashiest hotel in town — it’s better than that. You get genuine character, a neighborhood that feels real, and the kind of thoughtful touches that suggest someone actually cares about your stay. The 9-point rating makes perfect sense once you’re here; it’s the sort of place where everything just works without any fuss, and you find yourself already planning when you’ll come back before you’ve even checked out.

"Cosy and clean apartment"
Host was lovely and got in touch with instructions to access. The apartment was clean and perfect to stay to go to Twickenham stadium. It felt cosy but still free of clutter.
What could be improved: Nothing

"Highly recommend."
Perfect property in a perfect location, great for travelling into London. Clean and well appointed. Only suggestion would be to fit blinds in the bedrooms for additional privacy and to keep out external light pollution (especially the security light that kept flashing on/off). But overall we loved it and would certainly recommend/return. Contact with host was also excellent.
What could be improved: No hairdryer.

"Fantastic apartment, clean secure and quite. Parking on road at top of flats recommended and access via the gate."
Quite, spacious and clean
What could be improved: WiFi took a while to get online and mobile signal is not good if no WiFi

"Great calm place to stay when visiting London"
Perfect location close enough to the tube, in a safe neighbourhood. Apartment had everything you need and was very clean and modern. Host was super kind and helpful in communicating everything. Definitely staying here again next time I’m in London!

"Good"
The host was very kind and responded quickly to messages. The apartment was very clean, spacious, and comfortable, which made our stay pleasant.
What could be improved: The location is around a 30-minute walk to the nearest metro station, with steep uphill and downhill sections, which was very inconvenient, especially after a long day in the city. There was no hair dryer at all. Even worse, the hot water stopped working several times during our 5-day stay, which was extremely frustrating and unacceptable.

"It has potential to be a great stay, but the lack of attention to guest comfort made it feel more like borrowing an empt"
The property is clean and the location is reasonably good, which made getting around very easy definitely two strong positives.
What could be improved: How little was provided in terms of essentials. There were no toiletries, only one huge rubbish in the kitchen with one small for composite rubbish. No dry bins not even a small one in both bathrooms. For the price, I expected at least a basic standard of essentials rather than having to source everyday items myself. The freezer was also locked, leaving only the small fridge compartment usable.
The biggest issue was that the hot water heater stopped working, and we had to take freezing cold showers for a day, not ideal in autumn. The host did respond via text and kindly offered compensation and also arranged for someone to come and fix the boiler, which I appreciate but it was just uncomfortable to be bathing in cold shower during autumn in London.
