Regency Hotel Parkside
First Impressions
Walking up to Regency Hotel Parkside on Nottingham Place, you’ll notice it’s tucked into one of those classic Georgian terraces that make London so photogenic. The entrance feels properly British — not flashy, but there’s something reassuring about the traditional facade. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Regent’s Park, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re staying in central London.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I really appreciate about this spot — you’re in Marylebone, which locals know is one of the best-kept secrets in Zone 1. Baker Street tube is right there (seriously, like a three-minute walk), so you’ve got direct access to the Circle, Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City, and Bakerloo lines. The four-star rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting this prime location without the Mayfair price tag.
What’s actually brilliant is how you can pop into Regent’s Park for a morning jog, then be at Oxford Street in ten minutes if you need to hit the shops. The neighborhood has this village-y feel with proper cafes and that famous Sunday farmers market on Marylebone High Street.
The Room Experience
The rooms are… well, they’re London-sized, let’s be honest. But the room I stayed in was thoughtfully laid out, and the bed was genuinely comfortable after long days of walking around the city. The windows actually open (which you’d be surprised how rare that is), and if you’re lucky enough to get a park-facing room, the morning light is lovely.
The bathroom was compact but functional — hot water pressure was decent, and they’d clearly put effort into the fixtures. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything worked as it should, which is sometimes all you really need.
Dining & Amenities
The breakfast situation is pretty standard English fare — you know, the usual suspects of eggs, bacon, toast, and beans. The restaurant area gets busy during morning rush, so I’d suggest going either early or after 9 AM if you’re not in a hurry. The coffee’s actually better than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise.
There’s no spa or fancy wellness center, but honestly, with Hyde Park and Regent’s Park as your backyard, you don’t really need a hotel gym. The staff were helpful with restaurant recommendations — they steered me toward some great gastropubs in the area that I never would’ve found otherwise.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest hotel you’ve ever stayed in, but it gets the fundamentals right. The location is genuinely excellent, the staff seem to care about what they’re doing, and you’re paying London prices for what feels like good value in this neighborhood. The parking situation is typical for central London (meaning expensive and limited), but with Baker Street tube so close, you really don’t need a car anyway.
If you’re the type who values being able to walk to both Regent’s Park and the West End, and you want somewhere clean and comfortable without breaking the bank, this place delivers on its promises.
