Radisson Blu Hotel, London Canary Wharf East
First Impressions
Walking into the Radisson Blu Hotel, London Canary Wharf East, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical business hotel — though it definitely caters to that crowd. The lobby has this sleek, modern vibe that feels refreshingly understated compared to some of the flashier places in London. I mean, you’re in the heart of one of the world’s major financial districts, so there’s definitely an air of sophistication, but it doesn’t feel stuffy or intimidating.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is what initially drew me here. You’re literally surrounded by those impressive glass towers that make Canary Wharf so distinctive, yet the hotel sits on a quieter street that feels somewhat removed from the main hustle. The Canary Wharf station is just a few minutes’ walk — which is brilliant because you can zip into central London on the Jubilee line in about fifteen minutes. What I really appreciated was having the Thames Path right there; those evening walks along the water became a bit of a ritual during my stay.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was on the eighth floor with partial water views — nothing spectacular, but pleasant enough. What struck me most was how thoughtfully designed everything felt; the work desk actually worked for getting things done, and the lighting was spot-on (you know how hotel lighting can be terrible). The bathroom was compact but well-appointed, with one of those rainfall showers that actually delivered decent pressure. Storage space was generous too, which matters when you’re staying more than just a night or two.
Dining & Amenities
The restaurant downstairs serves solid international fare — nothing groundbreaking, but reliably good. I found myself eating there more often than expected, partly because the staff genuinely seemed to care about the experience. There’s also a well-equipped fitness center that’s open 24/7, which was perfect for my odd schedule. The business center and meeting spaces looked impressive, though I didn’t use them myself. What I did appreciate was the quiet spa area; after long days exploring London, that steam room was exactly what I needed.
Why Guests Love It
This four-star property really delivers on the fundamentals without trying to be something it’s not. The staff strikes that perfect balance of being professional without being overly formal — they remember your name and actually seem pleased to help. For business travelers, the location and facilities are spot-on, but I think leisure visitors will find plenty to appreciate too. The parking situation is sorted if you’re driving, which isn’t always a given in London. You’re also perfectly positioned to explore both the traditional City areas and the more modern Docklands, depending on your interests.
