Overview
First Impressions
The NOX Richmond sits right on Petersham Road, and honestly, it caught me off guard in the best way. This three-star spot doesn’t try to be something it’s not — instead, it nails the whole contemporary boutique vibe without the pretentious price tag. The dark, moody exterior gives way to a surprisingly bright lobby that feels more like a stylish city hotel than something you’d expect in Richmond.
Location & Getting Around
You’re basically a two-minute walk from Richmond station, which I mean, is pretty much perfect if you’re planning to explore London proper. But here’s the thing — Richmond itself has become this little foodie destination, and you’re right in the thick of it. The riverside walks are literally around the corner, and if you time it right, you can grab coffee and watch the rowers on the Thames before the crowds arrive.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but cleverly designed — they’ve clearly thought about how people actually use hotel spaces. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (I’m pretty picky about mattresses), and the shower had proper water pressure, which you know can be hit or miss in older London buildings. The decor leans industrial-chic with exposed brick touches, though the soundproofing could be better if you’re facing the main road.
Dining & Neighborhood Eats
The hotel’s restaurant serves decent Modern British fare, but honestly, Richmond’s dining scene has exploded recently, so I’d suggest exploring. There’s this brilliant gastropub called The Marlborough just down the road, and the weekend farmers market near the green is worth timing your stay around. The hotel staff actually gave me some solid local recommendations — they clearly know the area well.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about NOX Richmond is the balance it strikes. You get the London experience without the central London chaos, plus parking is actually manageable here (try finding that in Zone 1). The 7.7 rating makes sense — it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises. For the price point, especially if you’re planning day trips into the city or want to explore Southwest London’s increasingly trendy spots, it’s a smart choice that feels more considered than your typical chain hotel.

"good value and good communication."
I didn't stay for breakfast but the room and cleanliness was good value/
What could be improved: no parking will always be a drawback.

"Good stay"
The hotel was very clean and comfortable, great location. Great bed!
All amenities, friendly staff.
Would definitely stay again.
What could be improved: Unfortunately we paid for a River view room but we had to be moved to a street view because the electrics weren't working on the room we paid for. As this was a Friday night we had a noisy night and very little sleep. Which wasn't directly the hotel's fault, as the room was facing Richmond high street.

"I had a lovely time in a lovely place!"
I loved the location, the modern approach, the young, helpful and polite staff, the fact it was very quiet this time of year, and the wonderful shower.
What could be improved: Just two small details. The position of the microwave which was difficult to reach and wasn’t working well and the toaster that stopped working on Christmas day.

"Superb"
We stayed for one night and had a lovely experience. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room had a clean, warm, minimalist modern feel and was comfortable. We especially appreciated the small kitchenette, which allowed us to make ourselves a cup of tea and coffee. Soap and shampoo were provided; the only small suggestion would be to also include toothpaste.
The location was fantastic - close to local restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, and shops. We also enjoyed a beautiful river view from our room. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and we would happily recommend this accommodation.

"GOOD QUALITY CENTRAL HOTEL"
A lovely little hotel near the bridge in Richmond. For me that is central. It is next to the river and near town shops and the cinema. It's a short walk to the station and there re plenty of buses. The area abounds n restaurants.
I must praise the staff. They were so helpful and kind.
My room was large, modern and clean. It had some cooking facilities.
Excellent value for money.
What could be improved: The stairs are quite steep and there is no lift. If you have mobility issues , request a ground floor room.

"Great location good value for your money"
We liked it location near to shops, restaurants and bars, and also a short walk to the River Thames and Richmond Park
What could be improved: We were on the top floor and there are no lifts. I am over 70 and had to struggle up the stairs with my case.

"Nox hotel a great location"
Great location, comfortable bed, small kitchenette
What could be improved: Can be a little bit noisy - walls must be thin, but other guests were quiet (noise stops) from around 10 pm.
