Novotel London Tower Bridge
First Impressions
Walking up to Novotel London Tower Bridge on Pepys Street, you immediately get that feeling of being right in the thick of things without the chaos. This four-star hotel sits in the City of London, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better if you’re here to actually experience the city rather than just pass through. The building itself has that modern glass facade that catches the light just right, especially in the late afternoon.
The Heart of Historic London
You know what’s great about staying here? Tower Bridge is literally a three-minute walk away — I mean, you can see it from some of the upper floors. But it’s not just the obvious tourist stuff that makes this spot special. The area around here has this incredible mix of old and new London that you don’t get everywhere. You’ve got these narrow medieval streets that somehow survived the Blitz, and then suddenly you’re face-to-face with gleaming skyscrapers. Borough Market is just across the river if you want proper food, and the Thames Path runs right along the water.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was on the seventh floor, and while it wasn’t huge, it was thoughtfully laid out in that efficient way good city hotels manage. The bed was genuinely comfortable — not just hotel-brochure comfortable — and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works. What I appreciated most was the soundproofing; despite being in central London, I barely heard the street noise once the window was closed.
Dining and Amenities
The restaurant downstairs serves decent international food, though I’ll be honest — with Borough Market so close, you might want to venture out for dinner. Breakfast was solid, nothing fancy but they do a proper full English if that’s your thing. There’s a fitness center that’s better equipped than most hotel gyms, and they’ve got a sauna that’s perfect after walking around the city all day. The parking situation is what you’d expect in this part of London — expensive and limited — so I’d recommend the Tube instead.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about this place — it gets the balance right between being professional and actually welcoming. The staff seem to know the neighborhood well, which makes a difference when you need restaurant recommendations or directions. You’re paying for the location, sure, but you’re also getting a hotel that understands what business and leisure travelers actually need. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, and after staying at places that promise the world and deliver generic experiences, that authenticity is refreshing.
