Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Mulberry Flat 3 – One bedroom 2nd floor by City Living London on Bowling Green Lane, you immediately get that authentic London feeling — this isn’t some sterile hotel chain, but a proper flat tucked into a charming Victorian building in Islington. The second-floor location means you’ll get a nice view without the street noise, and honestly, there’s something quite satisfying about having your own key to an actual London apartment rather than just another hotel room. The building itself has that lovely period character you’d expect from this part of town, with original features that remind you you’re staying somewhere with real history.

The Heart of Islington

What really struck me about this place is how perfectly positioned it is — I mean, you’re genuinely in the thick of things here. The location score of 9.1 isn’t just marketing fluff; you can walk to Angel tube station in about five minutes, and from there you’re connected to everything. But here’s what I love most: step outside and you’re surrounded by proper London life. There are brilliant pubs within a stone’s throw, independent coffee shops that locals actually use, and that wonderful mix of Georgian terraces and modern city energy that makes Islington so appealing. You know what’s great? You can walk to King’s Cross in about fifteen minutes if you fancy it.

The Space Itself

This four-star flat really delivers on comfort without trying too hard to impress. The one-bedroom setup is thoughtfully arranged — the living area feels genuinely spacious, not cramped like some London accommodations can be. The kitchen is properly equipped, which means you can actually cook a decent meal if you want to save money or just fancy staying in with some groceries from the nearby shops. The bedroom gets good natural light, and the bed is comfortable enough that you’ll actually get a proper night’s sleep. I particularly appreciated the little touches that show someone’s thought about what travelers actually need — decent wifi, enough electrical outlets, and storage space that makes sense.

Why Couples Love It

There’s definitely something romantic about having your own little London hideaway, and I can see why couples rate this place so highly. The flat has that intimate, home-away-from-home feeling that’s perfect when you want to experience the city like locals rather than tourists. You can grab fresh ingredients from Chapel Market (just around the corner, actually), cook together, then head out for drinks at one of the excellent gastropubs nearby. The neighborhood has this lovely village-within-the-city vibe that makes evening strolls genuinely pleasant — something that’s not always easy to find in central London.

Why Guests Love It

What sets this place apart is that perfect balance of independence and location. You get the freedom of your own space without sacrificing access to everything London has to offer. The flat feels like a real home, not a serviced accommodation, but you’re still close enough to walk to major attractions when you want them. Plus, staying in Islington means you’re experiencing a side of London that many visitors miss — the area where Londoners actually choose to live. It’s that combination of authentic neighborhood character and genuine convenience that makes this place work so well.

"Good, quite central and comfortable apartment."
Very comfortable flat. Good location, less than 10 minutes to the next subway station and less than three minutes to the next bus stop. Local pubs and cafés, and grocery shopping just a short walk away.
What could be improved: A bit noisy surroundings. Windows and blinds a bit hard to operate. As almost everywhere in English cities it is hard to find an affordable parking, so we parked outside the city and took the subway into the city to the apartment.

"Perfect for family stay in London, even for long duration trips."
Perfect for family trip to London! Well suitable for 2 adults+2kids. Fully equipped with everything needed also for long stays: washing machine, iron, fridge, cooking. Huge living room, no problems with heat and hot water. Overall, great conditions to stay, very safe zone and close to public transport: bus station outside, metro and train stations acceptable walking distances. Main attractions at 30 minutes easy walking distance. You don't need to meet the host, entrance is via code, provided in advance with many tips for surroundings. Highly recommend!

"Easy check-in. Enjoyed by the stay. Will rent next time."
Communication with host is perfect: quick and full responses. Clear check-in instructions. No keys: entrance and flat by code. Place and flat are very clean. Everything is convenient and in good condition. Pretty quiet.

"Great apartment in a great location!"
There was an issue with the key code on arrival but a single call had it fixed. The apartment was very clean and in a great location for exploring but also having shops, bars and restaurants very close.
What could be improved: The heat, now it was warmish in London and there were fans available but even on relatively cold days the apartment was very warm.

"All in all a great apartment with lots of natural lights and ability to allow windows to be opened"
Location was great , visit was mainly to visit family nearby . Handy location to city of London and plenty of restaurants to choose . Taxi , buses and underground easy to use
What could be improved: Bed could be more comfortable, rather springy and perhaps more than a towel each for 10 days stay

"Cleanliness should be improved"
The location is very much accessible to the train station and to the manor attractions.
What could be improved: The bedding wasn't clean. I could find a bunch of hairs on the bed and the duvet. The bedding was found with stains and wasn't suitable to sleep.

"Exceptional"
Came out to visit London for my first time! The stay was amazing. Everything was clean and spacious. This flat is also very convenient as it is very close to tube stations. It's about an 8 minute walk, so you dont have to take a taxi if you dont have a ton of luggage. There are also tons of restaurants in the area, & communication was excellent as well. Highly recommend!!
What could be improved: Would recommend an extra bed if you are renting for 4.

"Very good"
The apartment was clean and spacious, in a nice neighborhood, good location, close to bus/train/metro stations.
What could be improved: Sofa is really not comfortable to sleep for 2 people. The main room lacks space to store things/clothes. The host provided 4 tea & 4 coffee bags for 4 people and 4 nights - better than nothing :)
