First Impressions
Modern flat in North London close to tube is exactly what it sounds like — no fancy marketing names, just an honest description of what you’re getting. I’ll admit, when I first booked this three-star place in Kenton, I wasn’t expecting much beyond a clean bed and decent Wi-Fi. But you know what? Sometimes the straightforward approach works best, especially when you’re looking for a proper base to explore London without the central zone price tag.
The Space
The apartment feels genuinely modern — not that fake-modern where they slap some IKEA furniture in a tired old space. The kitchen is actually functional, which honestly surprised me given how many London rentals treat cooking as an afterthought. I mean, you’ve got a proper fridge, a decent hob, and enough counter space to make breakfast without playing Tetris with your coffee mug and toast plate. The living area flows nicely into everything else, and there’s enough natural light that you won’t feel like you’re hiding in a cave.
Location Reality
Kenton isn’t Covent Garden, and that’s actually the point. You’re in proper North London here — residential, real, and refreshingly normal after a day battling tourist crowds in Zone 1. The tube station is genuinely close (I timed it at about 6 minutes walking), and once you’re on the Bakerloo line, you’re surprisingly well-connected. Twenty-five minutes to Oxford Circus, maybe thirty to Waterloo — not bad at all when you factor in what you’re saving on accommodation costs.
Daily Life
What I really appreciated was how the area works for actual living, not just sleeping. There’s a Tesco Express around the corner, a few decent curry houses (this is North London, after all), and that lovely feeling of being somewhere locals actually live. The room setup gives you space to spread out properly — I could leave my suitcase open without it taking over the entire floor. Parking was straightforward too, which anyone who’s tried to drive in London will tell you is worth its weight in gold.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to wow you with marble bathrooms or concierge services, but that 4.5 rating makes sense when you actually stay here. It’s clean, functional, and honest about what it offers. The flat works well for couples or solo travelers who want their own space without paying Mayfair prices. You get the satisfaction of staying somewhere that feels like a temporary home rather than just another hotel room, and you’re still close enough to central London that you won’t spend half your day commuting. Sometimes the best places are the ones that just get the basics absolutely right.
