Modern family home w/Wi-Fi, Netflix, self check-in
First Impressions
When I first rolled up to Modern family home w/Wi-Fi, Netflix, self check-in, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t look like much from the street. This three-star ground floor flat sits on a busy stretch of Chingford Road, and you might walk right past it if you’re not paying attention. But that’s actually part of its charm — it’s tucked away in plain sight, offering something genuinely different from the usual hotel experience.
The Space
What you’re getting here is essentially someone’s well-maintained family home that’s been set up for travelers. The self check-in process works smoothly (they send you all the codes beforehand), and once you’re inside, it feels refreshingly normal. There’s a proper living room with a decent-sized sofa where you can actually spread out, plus Netflix already set up on the TV — no fiddling around with passwords or trying to log into your own account.
Location & Getting Around
Being in Walthamstow puts you in a proper London neighborhood rather than touristy central areas, which I actually preferred. The Blackhorse Road tube station is about a 10-minute walk, and from there you’re maybe 20 minutes to central London on the Victoria line. You know what’s great though? There’s a Morrison’s literally around the corner, plus some solid local pubs and that whole Walthamstow Village area with its decent cafes and weekend market.
Practical Stuff
The Wi-Fi works well — I had no issues with video calls or streaming, which honestly can be hit-or-miss even in fancier places. There’s parking available too, which is a massive plus if you’re driving in London. The place sleeps more people than your average hotel room, so it makes sense for families or small groups who want to stay together without booking multiple rooms.
Why It Works for Certain Travelers
Look, this isn’t going to wow you with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy interiors. But if you want a clean, functional base that feels like staying at a friend’s place rather than a sterile hotel, it delivers. The 6.5 rating reflects what it is — solid, no-frills accommodation that does the basics well without trying to be something it’s not. For families especially, having that extra space and the ability to make yourselves at home makes a real difference.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
