Mitcham Junction – 2 Bed Apartment – Sleeps 6
First Impressions
Mitcham Junction – 2 Bed Apartment – Sleeps 6 is one of those places that surprises you — and honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to Mill Green. It’s tucked away in what feels like a proper residential area, which actually turned out to be exactly what I needed. The building itself is pretty unassuming, but once you’re inside this apartment, you realize it’s been thoughtfully set up for travelers who want something different from the usual hotel experience.
The Space Itself
Walking into the two-bedroom setup, I was struck by how much space there actually is — I mean, when places say they sleep six, you’re usually imagining people crammed onto sofas, but this works. The layout flows well between the bedrooms and common areas, and there’s enough storage that you’re not living out of suitcases for your entire stay. The kitchen is properly equipped too, which matters if you’re staying more than a couple nights or traveling with kids who get picky about food.
Getting Around South London
Here’s what I wish someone had told me beforehand — Mitcham Junction station is your lifeline, and it’s actually pretty well connected once you figure out the rhythm. You’re looking at about 20-25 minutes to get into central London, which isn’t bad considering you’re paying South London prices instead of Zone 1 rates. The area around Mill Green has that lived-in feel where you’ll find proper local shops and cafes, not tourist traps.
What Works and What Doesn’t
The apartment gives you that independence you can’t get in a traditional hotel — you can spread out, do laundry, keep your own schedule. But you know what? It’s definitely more of a functional space than a stylish one. The furnishings are practical rather than Instagram-worthy, and some of the fixtures could use updating. The neighborhood gets quiet at night (which I loved), but if you’re someone who wants to stumble back from late dinners in Soho, factor in those transport times.
Why It Makes Sense
This place works best for families or small groups who want breathing space without the London hotel prices — especially if you’re planning day trips or need a base for exploring South London properly. The value proposition is solid when you split costs among several people, and having that extra room to decompress makes a real difference on longer stays. Just don’t expect boutique hotel touches or someone to make your bed every day.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
