Overview
First Impressions
Tucked away on Lamb’s Passage — honestly, one of those hidden London streets you’d walk past a dozen times without noticing — 5 Mins Walk to Moorgate, Tranquil City Retreat lives up to its name in ways I didn’t expect. The cobblestone passage feels worlds away from the City’s hustle, even though you’re literally a few minutes from Moorgate Station. It’s that rare find where the address actually tells the truth about both convenience and quiet.
Location & Getting Around
You know what struck me? The walk to Moorgate really is five minutes, but you’ve also got Old Street and Angel stations within easy reach. I mean, staying in London usually means picking between central chaos or peaceful suburbs — this somehow gives you both. The neighborhood sits right on that sweet spot between Islington’s trendy cafes and the City’s financial district, so whether you’re here for business or exploring, you’re perfectly positioned.
The Space Itself
This four-star apartment setup works brilliantly for anyone wanting more than a typical hotel room. The kitchen is properly equipped — not just a mini-fridge and kettle situation — which actually saves you money in an expensive city like London. What I loved most was how quiet it stays despite being so central; those thick Georgian walls really do their job. The decor strikes that balance between homey and polished without trying too hard to be Instagram-perfect.
Neighborhood Character
Lamb’s Passage itself feels like stepping into a different era — narrow, tree-lined, with those beautiful old buildings that make London special. There’s a proper local pub around the corner where City workers grab pints after work, and you’ll find some excellent coffee spots that haven’t been discovered by every tourist guide yet. The area comes alive during weekdays but settles into peaceful residential vibes on weekends, giving you the best of both worlds depending on when you visit.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.3 rating makes perfect sense once you experience how well everything works together here. It’s that combination of space, location, and genuine tranquility that’s surprisingly hard to find in central London. Whether you’re extending a work trip or planning a proper London exploration, having your own peaceful retreat to return to each evening changes the whole experience. Plus, there’s something satisfying about telling people you stayed on a hidden passage most Londoners don’t even know exists.

"A nice and clean apartment close to Barbican"
Clean, big enough for a group of 4 to stay comfortably. Kitchen facilities are good enough for cooking.
What could be improved: Garbage bins in front of the property entrance.

"Superb"
The location was excellent—very close to the underground, which made transportation convenient. The host provided timely support and assistance whenever needed, which we truly appreciated.
The apartment was well-equipped, clean, and comfortable. The only small suggestion is that the bed in the single room could be a little larger, as it felt a bit small for two older children. Other than that, everything was perfect and we had a wonderful stay.

"Shame on you if you stayed elsewhere"
The apartment had everything from TP to coffee ☕️. Clean, organized, and perfect. Location for seeing and getting anywhere in London. Communication with the host was awesome and even kept our luggage while we waited for a late flight. Seriously, it's probably in the top 5 places we have stayed in anywhere. I can't say it enough, nice, safe place that makes you feel at home.
What could be improved: For the first time since I have stayed in apartments, NOTHING!!!!!!

"Very clean and well managed apartment in the middle of everything! Highly recommended."
Excellent location and very clean. My first time in London and it served as the best location. Near the tube and restaurant etc. We were able to drop off our luggage before our check in time. Very accommodating owner.

"We loved it all and plan to book the same place again if possible, when we return..."
We very much liked it all... Location was great! Close to Underground options that allowed us to move easily to all the places we wanted to visit and more... Accommodations excellent! Clean, comfortable, and will all the items that we could need during our stay... Host outstanding and responsive! Answering every question very fast, providing great information for check-in and check-out in a very understandable manner, and making himself available for support if needed... We could not have asked for more!
What could be improved: There was nothing not to like! Perhaps... During winter provide a couple of extra throw blankets for when the group is watching TV or relaxing in the living room.
