First Impressions
The Micro and bright, cosy studio at West Hampstead isn’t your typical hotel — it’s actually more like staying in someone’s well-designed London flat, which honestly makes the whole experience feel more authentic. When I first walked in, I was struck by how much natural light floods this small space, and you know what? The owners weren’t kidding about the “bright” part. The studio manages to feel spacious despite being compact, thanks to clever design choices and those lovely big windows that face the right direction.
Location & Neighborhood
West Hampstead is one of those London neighborhoods that locals love but tourists often overlook — and that’s actually a good thing. You’re right near the tube station (literally a two-minute walk), which means central London is maybe 15 minutes away, but the area itself has this relaxed, residential vibe. There are proper local pubs around the corner, decent coffee shops, and a Sainsbury’s for when you need to grab essentials. I mean, you’re not in the thick of tourist chaos, but you can be there quickly when you want to be.
The Space
The room — well, it’s really a studio apartment — makes brilliant use of every square foot. There’s a proper kitchenette tucked into one corner, which is handy if you want to make morning coffee or store leftovers from that Indian place down the street. The bed is comfortable (I’m particular about mattresses), and there’s enough storage for a week’s worth of clothes. What I loved most was the thoughtful touches — good lighting for reading, decent Wi-Fi, and the kind of shower pressure that actually works.
Daily Life Here
This four-star accommodation really shines when you want to live like a Londoner for a few days rather than just passing through. I found myself popping out for fresh groceries, making proper breakfast, and actually relaxing in the evening instead of feeling like I needed to be “out and about” constantly. The neighborhood has this wonderful mix of young professionals and families, so there’s always a bit of life on the streets but it’s never overwhelming. The parking situation isn’t terrible either — there are resident bays nearby if you’re driving.
Why Guests Love It
Look, if you need a grand lobby and room service, this isn’t your place. But if you want a genuine slice of London life in a space that feels like home — just better designed than most of our actual homes — then you’ll get it. The value is excellent for what you’re getting in this part of London, and honestly, the location gives you the best of both worlds. You can walk to Hampstead Heath when you want green space, hop on the tube when you want museums, or just settle in with a book and a cup of tea when London gets a bit much. It’s the kind of place that makes you consider actually moving to the city.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
