Overview
First Impressions
Marylebone by Excel Apartments sits on a quiet residential street that feels worlds away from London’s tourist chaos, even though you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Oxford Street. The building itself is classic Georgian — you know, that cream-colored brick you see all over this part of town — and honestly, walking up to it feels more like visiting a friend’s place than checking into a hotel.
The Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying in Marylebone — it’s got this village-y feel that most visitors never discover. You’ve got Chiltern Street just around the corner with its independent bookshops and cafes, plus the Sunday farmers market at Marylebone High Street is actually worth getting up for. The location means you can walk to Regent’s Park in about ten minutes, or if you’re feeling ambitious, it’s a nice stroll through the park to Camden Market.
The Apartment Experience
This is where this three-star place really delivers — each apartment feels like someone’s actual London flat, not a sterile hotel room. I mean, you’ve got a proper kitchen with everything you need to make breakfast or reheat takeaway (and trust me, you’ll want to try the Thai place on Crawford Street). The living areas have that slightly mismatched furniture thing going on that somehow works perfectly, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it.
Daily Life Details
The staff here gets that you’re basically a temporary resident, not just passing through. They’re happy to hold packages, give you the real local recommendations, and honestly seem to remember your name after the first day. There’s no fancy restaurant downstairs, but that’s kind of the point — you’re living like a Londoner, grabbing coffee from the corner shop or trying that gastropub everyone’s talking about. Parking is available if you’re driving, though I can’t imagine why you’d want to deal with London traffic when the Tube stations are so close.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to blow you away with marble bathrooms or a fancy lobby — it’s more about feeling settled rather than just staying somewhere. The apartments are clean, well-maintained, and have that lived-in comfort that makes you want to actually spend time there instead of just crashing between sightseeing sessions. Plus, having your own space means you can come and go without feeling like you’re bothering anyone, which is pretty liberating when you’re exploring a city as overwhelming as London.

"Comfortable and pleasant apartment, but the key and tv situation spoiled it"
no breakfast, an apartment
What could be improved: FRONT DOOR OF BLOCK, KEY DIDNT WORK, HAD TO RING OTHER APARTMENTS TO OPEN DOOR.
TV HAD NO INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO TUNE IN

"Nice flat, good location, needs more clear instructions to gain entry."
Flat itself was great. Location was ideal, only a few minutes walk from Baker Street tube station
What could be improved: Keys are in a lockbox, instructions were not very clear - it took us 30 minutes to get in. There are around 10-12 lockboxes around the property and the video instructions were of a different lockbox to where the keys were which made it more confusing.
Woman on the customer support line wasn’t the best at helping.

"A very nice apartment however the check-in process was not great."
Clean and well furnished with everything we needed.
What could be improved: The check-in process was overly laborious and not as easy as I would like.

"Good area and location! Show not suitable for a tall person."
Good location.
What could be improved: I was cold in the evenings as the duvet is quite thin.
There isn’t many windows and I struggle with that.
The shower isn’t suitable for a tall person as it’s under a slanted wall so it is quite low.

"Very good"
Location was great. Very quiet comfortable beds good kitchen
What could be improved: 2nd bedside light not plugged in and no PowerPoint near enough to plug it in. Area where lock box for keys is down steep stairs and no lights there - we arrived at night so a little hazardous. 1 door stop short (broken bit was left on livingroom floor not sure why) no plug for kitchen sink hard to find location of apartment once inside. In the lobby sign shows apartment 1,2 and 3 on level B, but lift says -1. Once down on level -1. All doors only have signs stating "fire door." As we could not locate any signs stating apartment nos on this level we discovered that we had to open the fire doors which had doors behind it with the apartment nnumbers.maybe let visitors know all this before they arrive. Bath is very high to step into and out off. Potentially hazardous as floor tiles slippery and the shower screen is hinged not sure why as it can only move about 4cm (handrail in bath stops it opening fully, to enable stepping into the middle of the bath, where the non slip dots are -if that makes sense). Flat batteries in the remote or tv (we replaced them and left two spares in cutlery drawer) we only mention this as constructive comments as we loved everything else about the apartment. Spacious, light, nice decor, very comfortable.

"Lovely place and great location, perfect for a short trip to London."
Great apartment! Clean and a nice size. The staff was really friendly and the location it’s perfect.
What could be improved: The walls are not too thick and you can hear people walking up and down on the stairs and the floors above pretty early in the morning.
