Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Marlin Aldgate Tower Bridge, you immediately get the sense this place knows its audience — it’s sleek without being stuffy, and positioned right where you want to be in East London. The building itself has that modern apartment-style exterior that blends seamlessly with the rapidly evolving Aldgate neighborhood, which honestly feels like one of those areas that’s perpetually “up and coming” but in the best possible way.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally walking distance from both Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, but you’re not drowning in tourist crowds at your front door. Commercial Road might sound industrial, but it’s actually this interesting mix of local curry houses, traditional pubs, and new cafés that gives you a genuine slice of London life. The Aldgate East tube station is maybe a three-minute walk, and from there you can reach central London in no time.
The Apartment Experience
This four-star property operates more like serviced apartment living than traditional hotel stays, which works brilliantly if you’re staying more than a couple nights. Each room comes with a proper kitchenette — not just a mini-fridge and kettle, but actual cooking facilities that let you grab groceries from the nearby Tesco Express and save some money. The spaces feel contemporary and clean, with floor-to-ceiling windows that make even the smaller units feel surprisingly spacious.
Daily Life & Amenities
What really sets this place apart is how it handles the practical stuff. There’s a 24-hour front desk, which you definitely appreciate when you’re dealing with jet lag or late arrivals. The fitness center is compact but well-equipped — nothing fancy, but it gets the job done if you need to burn off those pub meals. The building also has parking available, which is genuinely rare and valuable in this part of London, especially if you’re planning any day trips outside the city.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really works here? It’s the balance between independence and support. You get the freedom of having your own space with cooking facilities, but staff are always around when you need assistance with directions or restaurant recommendations. The 8.1 rating makes perfect sense — it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in London, but it delivers exactly what it promises. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying in a neighborhood where you’ll see more locals than tourists, especially when you can still reach Westminster or Covent Garden in under 20 minutes on the tube.

"Massive, comfortable apartment in a good location - great value"
Really spacious apartment, a short walk from the underground, check in was easy and fast. 11th floor accommodation was really quiet at night - the heavy curtains helped. The bedroom is a good size with lots of storage - perfect for a short stay, or for a few weeks in London. It has everything you need - the appliances are all decent quality and everything I used worked as intended. Temperature in the apartment was always comfortable. So much space for the price with good views out across the city. I'd stay again happily.
What could be improved: Some things are a little tired, like a couple of cracked tiles in the bathroom and the lift is in need of a good clean. The kitchen was very clean, but some of the floors were a bit dusty. The sofa beds aren't very comfortable to sit on, but no real issue if you're not going to be in much.

"I would have loved my floor to Celing window bedroom if not it would have been a fantastic stay for me"
Location is good, apartment is clean, staff is friendly , facilities are good
What could be improved: False advertising on what the rooms actually look like. I paid for a one bedroom apartment simply because of the floor to ceiling window and after payment and I got to the property, I was told it was a pent floor and had to pay extra 100 pounds for it whereas it’s different from what was advertised on the website . There’s construction work going on and the noise will wake up up as early as 8am

"If you’re cool with renting an apartment for a night this will work for you."
If I were a 20 something living in London this place would be a dream Flat. Fantastic kitchen with washing machine. Cozy space
What could be improved: The whole building was under construction so we woke up at 9am to 3 construction workers looking into our bedroom window. So there’s that. The WiFi didn’t t work but luckily the kind front desk worker set us up with a new wifi set up. The Whitechapel neighborhood is really full of college aged kids but is in the middle of a lot of Turkish restaurants to try.

"It was a comfortable, pleasant place to stay. Shame about the scaffolding outside of every window due to maintenance. Ho"
Spacious, kitchen was well equipped. Bed in main room was very comfortable.
What could be improved: Lounges were uncomfortable. Bed in bed 2 was too firm - needs a mattress topper. Dishwasher didn’t work properly, had to rewash everything.

Conveniently located about a 15 minute walk from the train station. Bus stop is very close to the building and we got around to all the tourist spots with ease as the tube was only a few minutes walk away too.
It is a nice stroll to the Spitalfields markets, and a short bus ride away from the Tower of London.
Very safe as the reception area was staffed and the key was needed to access the building door after 6pm.
The apartment was lovely and clean, had everything we needed in it.
What could be improved: The only downside was the construction going on outside during the day, however it didnt affect us at night. We had no problem with it as we were out during the day however it is good to keep in mind.
