Overview
First Impressions
When I first spotted Maisonette Studio Flat in Putney tucked away on Burston Road, I’ll admit it caught me off guard. This isn’t your typical hotel setup — it’s actually more like staying in someone’s thoughtfully designed home, which honestly makes the whole experience feel more authentic than most cookie-cutter places in London. The building itself has that classic Victorian charm you see all over this part of Wandsworth, but what really sets this apartment apart is how it manages to feel both cozy and surprisingly spacious.
The Putney Advantage
You know what I love about staying here? Putney gets overlooked by so many tourists, but it’s actually one of those neighborhoods where real Londoners live and work. The high street is maybe a seven-minute walk, and you’ve got everything — proper pubs, decent coffee shops, and that Waitrose where I picked up breakfast supplies most mornings. Plus, the train links are brilliant — you can be in Waterloo in about 15 minutes, which beats fighting the tube crowds from more “central” spots.
The Space Itself
The studio is laid out really cleverly, I mean, whoever designed this knew what they were doing. There’s a proper kitchen area with everything you actually need (not just a sad kettle and mini-fridge situation), and the sleeping area doesn’t feel cramped against the living space. The room gets brilliant natural light through these big windows that look out onto the quiet residential street — honestly, it made my morning coffee ritual something to look forward to. The whole place feels clean and modern without being sterile, if that makes sense.
Local Life and Practicalities
What struck me most was how this place connects you to actual London life rather than tourist London. I’d walk to Putney Bridge in the mornings — it’s maybe ten minutes — and watch the rowing crews out on the Thames. There’s street parking if you’re driving, though I can’t imagine why you’d want to in this city. The local pub, The Duke’s Head, became my regular spot for evening pints, and the staff there started recognizing me by day three, which felt pretty special.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It’s not a flashy hotel with a concierge desk and room service — it’s a well-designed space in a neighborhood that feels real. The 8.8 rating makes perfect sense when you consider what you’re getting: independence, local flavor, and that rare feeling in London of having enough space to actually relax. If you want to experience the city like someone who lives here rather than just visits, this maisonette nails that completely.

A truly wonderful stay experience. The LOFT structure made the space feel very spacious, with the bedroom and living area on separate floors, allowing for privacy and ensuring that family activities didn't interfere with each other—extremely comfortable. The dining area was fully equipped with utensils and seasonings, fulfilling our wish to cook a hometown meal. Judging by the decor and the comprehensive facilities, the host must be someone who truly loves life. I particularly liked the small tatami area next to the bed, which was perfect for meditation and sitting in tranquility. The surrounding area was conveniently located, with bustling streets and numerous shops just a short walk away. Additionally, special praise goes to the host. Due to a misunderstanding about the parking fee duration, we underpaid and were fined. The host proactively took responsibility for the fine. Although she was partly at fault for providing incorrect information, her willingness to bear the loss was truly touching. Overall, this is a highly recommended homestay.

"Perfect location to visit London."
This flat is ideal for visiting London. Just on the outskirts but a 5-10 min walk to the tube to get you into central London, some lovely cafe’s and eateries near. Flat was modern, clean and was perfect for our stay.
What could be improved: The ceiling where the bed is is rather low, however it wasn’t a problem and it’s a clever use of space.

Everything for a comfortable stay is provided in the flat. Nice quiet neighbourhood and building is clean and quiet also.
It feels bigger due to the clever use of furniture within the space.
We stayed as my son was playing tennis at Wimbledon. Within walking distance but also really quick using Putney East station which is just a 10 min walk

Super comfortable, furnished with everything you need. less than 100mt from Putney train station, a few more minutes of walk away from the tube.
The check-in process was fast and easy
What could be improved: If you are unlucky, the sun in the morning might go straight into your eyes in bed. I suggest installing a curtain, it would be a simple and effective solution

"Excellent Location, Clever and Convenient Flat"
We had a great 5-day stay in this Putney flat. The location is the absolute highlight—it's situated perfectly in a vibrant part of London with a cool, relaxed atmosphere and an easy walk to the train or tube. There are so many amazing pubs and restaurants just a short walk away, making it easy to enjoy the local scene every evening. It was the perfect base for exploring the area.
The flat itself, while small, is designed very efficiently. The pull-out couch was comfortable, and the kitchen was well-equipped for a short stay. We were especially pleased to find thoughtful extras, such as spices for cooking, as well as soap and laundry detergent. These small touches made a real difference and made our stay much more convenient. It's a well-thought-out space in an unbeatable location. We would highly recommend it for a visit to London.
What could be improved: The balcony bed is a bit challenging if you're not a climber, and it has a ceiling height of about 4 feet. Also, there is no elevator to the 2nd floor location. Fine for us, but not accessible.

"Perfect overnight location and we would definitely use it again."
Cleanliness and location. Mezzanine bedroom. Nice and warm. Tara was very helpful.
What could be improved: Very low bedroom ceiling would be awkward for larger people.... but they would have no problem with the kitchen cupboards which are very high up.
