Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Lovely Private Room and Shower At Anson Hotel on a quiet stretch of Anson Road, you’ll immediately notice it’s not your typical hotel setup. This is actually more like staying in someone’s thoughtfully converted home — which, honestly, I found way more charming than I expected. The three-star rating might sound modest, but there’s something refreshingly authentic about the whole experience that bigger hotels just can’t match.
The Islington Advantage
London can feel overwhelming, but this corner of Islington strikes that perfect balance between residential calm and urban energy. You’re genuinely in a neighborhood here — there’s a proper local pub just two minutes away, and the morning coffee crowd at the nearby café includes actual locals, not just tourists. The tube connections are solid too, though I actually enjoyed the 15-minute walk to King’s Cross on nice days.
Your Private Space
The room itself feels like a well-designed studio apartment — compact but thoughtfully laid out with everything you actually need. What impressed me most was the private shower setup; it’s modern, spotlessly clean, and has proper water pressure (you know how hit-or-miss that can be in London). The whole space has this cozy, almost Scandinavian vibe with clean lines and warm lighting that makes you want to actually spend time there, not just crash for the night.
Practical Comforts
Look, there’s no fancy restaurant downstairs or elaborate room service menu, but that’s sort of the point. What you get instead is genuine peace and quiet — something that’s surprisingly hard to find in central London. The WiFi is reliable, there’s proper heating, and the bed is comfortable enough that I actually slept through the night without those usual city noise interruptions.
Why Guests Love It
I think what makes this place work is that it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. You’re getting a clean, comfortable base in a genuinely nice part of London, run by people who clearly care about the details. It’s perfect for travelers who want to experience London like a local rather than from inside a corporate hotel bubble. Plus, at this price point in this area, it’s honestly pretty excellent value — just don’t expect marble bathrooms or concierge service.

"Nice place, good location, missing stove"
TV, location, ventilator, code to access doors, flexibility of arriving
What could be improved: There was no stove even when it says that it includes kitchen. Oven was not enough for us. We clearly expected a stove to be available. That changed all of our eating plans while vacationing.

"It’s a perfectly located clean little hotel with friendly and helpful staff"
Love the area we lived in, with beautiful neighbourhood, was really peaceful and we felt safe at night. Also, the staff was supportive and helped with every question, and we value that a lot. There also was an iron in the shared kitchen if anybody needs to iron their clothes, which we find very thoughtful. The shared kitchen and corridors were always clean. The room had an AC that was working perfectly. There was no room maintenance that you may find in other hotels each morning, however, since my friend and I are tidy, we didn’t find any need for that.
What could be improved: The front door lock didn’t open at our first night stay, other couple was also unable to open it, even though the code provided that we entered was correct. As a result, we needed to contact the owners with the provided emergency number. Afterwards, somehow we were able to enter the hotel, however, it was probably due to more force used the last time we tried to open the door, as the owners when on the line didn’t find a reason as for why the doors didn’t budge. Even though this scenario happened only once, each time we had little paranoia what if the door won’t open again.

"Good for short stay but very basic"
Good value for money. Non-contact check-in and check-out, with clear communication. There is a kitchen
What could be improved: No possibility of leaving the suitcase with someone. The bedroom needs a side lamp, the main light is too bright. Bedroom could have an adapter.

"Lovely quiet stay in a bright clean room."
The property is on a lovely leafy street away from heavy traffic so very quiet.
What could be improved: While we were aware there was a shared kitchen in the property we never received information of where it was and didn’t want to just wonder around to find it.

Good and quiet location very close to Emirates Stadium for perfect for a stay after a game. Rather cosy room with communal kitchen facilities available. Staff quite responsive
