First Impressions
Honestly, Lovely one bedroom apartment in Elephant Castle caught me off guard in the best way possible. When I first walked into this four-star spot on George Mathers Road, I wasn’t expecting much from the name — but you know what, sometimes the straightforward approach works. The Limelight House building itself has this modern, clean look that immediately puts you at ease, and getting to the second floor apartment felt more like visiting a friend than checking into typical tourist accommodation.
Location & Getting Around
Being in Lambeth means you’re actually in a pretty sweet spot that most tourists overlook. London can be overwhelming, but this area gives you that local feeling without being stuck in the middle of nowhere. The Elephant and Castle tube station is close enough for easy access to central London — I mean, you can be at London Bridge in about ten minutes. What I really liked was how the neighborhood has this authentic London vibe, with proper local pubs and corner shops that aren’t tourist traps.
The Space Itself
The room setup is honestly perfect for anyone who wants more than just a bed to crash in. You’ve got a proper bedroom that actually feels separate from the living area, which is something you don’t always get in London apartments. The kitchen surprised me — it’s not just a tiny kitchenette stuck in a corner, but a real space where you could actually cook if you wanted to save some money on London’s restaurant prices. The whole place feels like someone’s well-maintained home rather than a sterile hotel room.
What Makes It Work
There’s free WiFi that actually works (always a relief), and the heating was spot-on during my stay. The apartment comes with all those little things you forget you need — proper towels, decent coffee, even parking if you’re brave enough to drive in London. I particularly appreciated having a washing machine, which turned out to be a game-changer for a longer stay. The 8.2 rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting genuine value without paying those crazy central London prices.
Why Guests Love It
What struck me most was how this place gives you breathing room in a city that can feel pretty cramped. You’re not fighting for elevator space with hundreds of other guests, and there’s something refreshing about having your own front door key rather than a hotel card. It’s the kind of place where you can actually settle in for a few days and feel like you’re experiencing London as more than just a tourist — you’re temporarily living there, which honestly makes all the difference.

"Good"
The view from the window was beautiful and made the room feel extra special. The space was generous, making it very comfortable. Most importantly, the host was incredibly responsive and answered all my questions quickly.
What could be improved: The apartment had a bit of a stale smell, as if the windows hadn’t been opened for a while. Overall, cleanliness could be improved, especially in the bathroom. I also agree with other guests — finding the key and figuring out how to lock the door were a bit tricky. With a bit more attention to cleaning and clearer instructions, the stay could be much better.

"Very good"
Location was good. Close to the underground and coffee shops. As well the staff were very responsive and we appreciated their help! It was spacious and having the whole apartment was great to relax in after a long day of sight seeing!
What could be improved: It could have been cleaner in the bathroom/shower/toilet.

"Great location and value for money, but the flat needs a few improvements to make it great."
Good value for money , especially having a kitchen and washing machine during the stay. The flat is conveniently located near Elephant and Castle and Kennington tube stations.
What could be improved: The kettle was dirty and needs a cleaning. The shower door did not keep water in at all, and my travel partner slipped while getting out due to all the water on the floor. He injured his leg and it could have been much worse if he hit his head on the toilet or sink. The shower needs a handle to prevent this. Additionally the water was not hot upon arrival and we needed to turn on the water heater ourselves and wait a full day to have hot water.

"Unsafe, scary and confusing to get to"
What could be improved: The lock of the door did not work when we used the key, it never locked from the outside or inside since we got the keys. It was intensely creepy. The bedroom door also didn’t close properly and didn’t ‘click’ nor did the bathroom door lock from the inside. We were two girls staying and felt insanely unsafe. We reported this to booking.com and to Tom the owner. We received no response from the site and an unfulfilled promise of a locksmith from Tom. After which, he did not reply to any phone calls, messages or emails. Highly unprofessional and if anything, we should have reported to the police but ‘technically’ nothing happened so I doubt they’d take it seriously.
Not even the damn pans were good to use, they were scratched up (besides only the stainless steel saucepans were usable so that’s what we used).
All in all, I don’t recommend.

"A nice, but very noisy flat."
What could be improved: The flat has an air source pump which is extremely noisy, particularly in the adjacent bedroom. We had to switch it off whenever we were in the flat, which would not be possible when it's cold because it provides heating and hot water. We found an earplug under the bed, which presumably was a previous guest's way of coping. You can also hear the trains when it is quiet at night.
I reported to the AirHost management that the control panel had a flashing amber light, which the instructions on the door said meant that there was a fault and to contact the service provider. The response was always polite, but nothing was ever done despite several emails.

"Una estancia tranquila, con varios temas que se deben consultar antes de llegar."
Es amplio, estaba limpio, tiene el mobiliario y equipamiento necesarios, la decoración y mobiliario lo hacen sentir agradable. El lugar es tranquilo y tiene cámaras de vigilancia en las calles que lo rodean lo cual permite seguridad.
What could be improved: No habían instrucciones de cómo poner la calefacción ni el agua caliente en las diferentes estancias y tuve que preguntar. Algunas instrucciones sí ayudaron. La calefacción del área del sillón nunca funcionó. No logré bajar las cortinas de la cocina. Sería importante informar también cómo cerrar la puerta con llave pues no conocía ese mecanismo y tuve que pedir apoyo para poder hacerlo. Podrían tener un manual o información sobre cómo usar cada equipo y cómo debe funcionar cada cosa, incluyendo el wifi, pues tuve que preguntar en lugar de encontrar fácilmente la información.

Die Grösse des Appartements (Schlafzimmer, Wohn-Essbereich mit Küche, grosses Bad, kleiner Balkon). Die Sicherheit des Hauses, auch in Bezug auf die Zugänglichkeit
Waschmaschine mit Trocknerfunktion - super angenehm!
in 10 Minuten Fussdistanzgibt es diverse Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, U-Bahnstation, Bus in 3 Minuten erreichbar.
Auch wenn nicht alles perfekt war, ich würde die Wohnung auf jeden Fall wieder buchen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.
What could be improved: Es gab Pflanzen, welche lange nicht mehr gegossen worden waren (tote Pflanzen), sowie einen verblühten Blumenstrauss auf dem Tisch.
Die Küche inkl. Pfannen etc. war nur mässig sauber, das Sofa ziemlich durchgesessen (alt).
Der Toaster hat einen Kurschluss verursacht - sollte ausgewechselt werden.
