When I first walked up to Lovely 1 bedroom apartment in South East London on Stanley Street, I’ll be honest — the name pretty much says it all. It’s tucked away in this quiet residential street in Lewisham that feels refreshingly normal after dealing with the chaos of central London. The building itself is typical Victorian terraced housing, which means you get those lovely high ceilings and character features without paying Kensington prices.

The Space

This four-star place really delivers on the essentials. The apartment feels like someone actually lives here rather than a sterile hotel setup — there’s a proper kitchen with everything you need if you want to skip eating out every meal. The bedroom is genuinely comfortable with a decent-sized bed, and honestly, after walking around London all day, that’s what matters most. The living area gives you space to spread out, which is something you definitely don’t get in most London hotel rooms.

The Neighborhood

Lewisham gets overlooked by most tourists, but that’s actually what makes it work so well. You’re about 15 minutes from central London by train, but the area has this lived-in feel with proper local pubs and that excellent covered market just a few streets over. Stanley Street itself is quiet enough that you’ll actually sleep through the night — something I can’t say about my last stay near Oxford Circus.

What Works Well

The transport links are genuinely good once you figure them out. Lewisham station connects you to London Bridge and beyond, plus there are several bus routes that’ll get you around South London without much fuss. I mean, you’re not in Zone 1, but you’re saving money and getting more space. The local Sainsbury’s is just around the corner, which matters when you’ve got that kitchen to use.

Why Guests Love It

What strikes me about this place is how it solves the London accommodation problem differently. Instead of cramming into an overpriced hotel room, you get proper space to live like a local for a few days. The 8.5 rating makes sense — it’s not trying to be fancy, just genuinely useful. Plus, if you’re exploring South London’s food scene or heading to places like Greenwich, you’re actually better positioned here than staying in the West End.

"Great !"
Magnificent apartment with everything you need for a short or long stay, including a coffee machine, dishwasher, and iron. Excellent location and excellent transport accessibility. Very quiet and peaceful apartment.
What could be improved: Just a few recommendations: - treat the front door so it doesn't creak - hooks in the bathroom for towels.

"Great value Flat on the London area"
Great Place to stay, walking distance from multiple London Transportation points, walking distance to Greenwich Park. The flat is very cozy and it has all the essentials, for anyone travelling with family, including basics such has coffee, salt, detergents, allowing us to make the most out of our break!
What could be improved: Not much to say on this!

Very comfortable. Well equipped. Quiet. Great location for trains into Central London, also for eating out or buying food. Would definitely use again.

The owner picked up my phone in a few rings Very generous, gave us a bottle of non-alcoholic drink with a welcome note, lots of biscoff biscuits, coffee and tea, toileteries and dishwashing liquid. Location superb

"Very nice little apartment"
Very nice little apartment. Clean and well appointed. Good kitchen area with everything we needed. Nice bathroom and bedroom. The bedroom faces into the back of other houses so its reasonably quiet and the lounge faces a quiet road. The underground is 2 mins away so very convenient. Its about 30 mins into the centre of London.
What could be improved: Wouldn't have minded a few more TV channels or Freeview. There aren't too many restaurants nearby. Greenwich is probably better for a meal out, which is a couple of tube stops away. The area is a bit run down but was safe enough.

"It did the job. Good location close by the trainstation. Lot's of food options and stores close by."
What could be improved: There where a few issues I would like to mention. The sleepsofa had been repaired and could not be used for sleeping anymore. The owner was great in helping with a new solution. But the first night was bad. The lower layers of plates was covered in a layer of mould. They probably had not been used in a while. And the whole cupboard showed traces of being contaminated. This can be easily fixed by properly cleaning that cupboard. Probably the cleaning crew did not check what a previous guest had left them. The heating did not heat at all. Probably some seasonal setting I was not able to change. Would be good to get some information about that. We always had plenty of warm water though. Lastly the internet connection completely left us one night. As far as I can tell it's a 5G based connection. And one night it was down. It worked great the rest of the week, though.

"Apartamento ideal para una familia"
Apartamento casi nuevo y completamente equipado, adaptadores enchufes, secador, paraguas,utensilios de cocina, aparatos como cafetera, tetera, tostador, horno ,microondas (aunque no giraba y calentaba demasiado o poco).Con muchos detalles como cápsulas café, té, azúcar, aceite, sal ... La habitación amplia, cama cómoda y grande y en el armario espacio suficiente. En la zona de cocina-salon estaba el sofá cama que tiene tamaño suficiente para dormir dos niños o un adulto con un niño . Tanto el wifi como Netflix funcionan perfectamente . Hay una estación de tren a menos de cinco minutos (New Cross) , se llega al centro en menos de 15 minutos.
What could be improved: Llegamos de noche y la calle se veía solitaria y oscura, además el taxista nos dijo q tuviéramos cuidado, con lo cual entramos al portal con cierta inseguridad. A eso le sumamos que el portal por fuera y la entrada del edificio estaba todo muy sucio, con lo cual la primera impresión fue horrorosa, menos mal que al entrar al apartamento todo cambió completamente, ya que dentro era todo lo opuesto. Tanto las toallas como las sábanas no tenían olor ni aspecto de mucha limpieza, pero era nuestra impresión, lo cual nos incomodó un poco ( no quiero decir con esto que no estuvieran lavados, porq todo estaba limpio).

What could be improved: La metro è quella esterna (overground), dai punti d'interesse ci vogliono non meno di 30/40 minuti per raggiungere la fermata new cross che come già detto dista pochissimo dall'appartamento
