Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Lost Property St Pauls London, Curio Collection By Hilton on Ludgate Hill, you can’t help but notice how it fits seamlessly into the historic streetscape — which makes sense, considering it’s housed in a beautifully restored Victorian bank building. The entrance is understated but elegant, and honestly, I love that it doesn’t scream “chain hotel” despite being part of Hilton’s portfolio. The lobby immediately tells you this isn’t your typical four-star property; there’s character here that most newer hotels simply can’t replicate.

Location That Actually Matters

You’re literally steps from St Paul’s Cathedral — I mean, you can see Christopher Wren’s masterpiece from some of the upper floor windows. But here’s what I really appreciate: you’re in the heart of the City of London financial district, which means excellent transport links and surprisingly good dining options within walking distance. The Millennium Bridge is just a few minutes away, so crossing over to Tate Modern or Borough Market becomes part of your daily routine rather than a planned expedition.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had this wonderful blend of contemporary comfort and nods to the building’s banking heritage — think rich fabrics, warm lighting, and those satisfying high ceilings you just don’t get in modern constructions. The bathrooms are particularly well done, with proper rainfall showers that actually work. What struck me most was the attention to sound insulation; despite being on a busy street, I slept remarkably well.

Dining and Social Spaces

The ground-floor restaurant and bar area has become something of a local favorite, which tells you everything you need to know about the food quality. I actually ended up having dinner there twice during my stay — not because I was being lazy, but because the menu genuinely impressed me. The space itself feels more like an upscale neighborhood bistro than a hotel dining room, with locals dropping in for after-work drinks alongside hotel guests.

Why Guests Love It

This is one of those hotels that gets the balance right between personality and professionalism. The staff clearly know their neighborhood and can point you toward the less obvious gems — like the excellent coffee shop tucked away on Carter Lane or the fact that the Museum of London is practically next door. You know what really won me over though? The way they’ve preserved and celebrated the building’s history while creating something genuinely contemporary and comfortable. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in London, but it absolutely succeeds at being one of the most characterful.

"Very good"
Great location and gorgeous building.
What could be improved: The window in the room was frosted, which was disappointing. But lovely room aside from that.

"An unbeatable location, with comfort and quality at the fore."
The staff were fantastic; I arrived earlier than the 15:00hrs check in, but they were extremely helpful, plus gave me access to the gym whilst i waited for the room. (the Gym has a large disabled toilet, so i was able to change in there) The room was extremely quiet and comfortable, although a little small, but I wasn't in there for long enough to be concerned by it Great walk in shower with high water pressure and really great toiletries supplied. An iron and board were supplied in the room, which is a must for business travel.
What could be improved: the iron in the room ruined one of my shirts as it spat rust out with the steam and stained a white shirt.
