Overview
First Impressions
London Choice Apartments – South Kensington – Mews House II sits tucked away on one of those quintessentially London cobblestone streets that you stumble upon and immediately want to photograph. Stanhope Mews West is the kind of address that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a secret — it’s residential, quiet, and honestly feels more like staying at a well-connected friend’s place than a typical hotel. The converted mews house has this authentic London charm that you can’t fake, and being a four-star property, it strikes that sweet spot between comfort and character.
Location Perfection
You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You’re literally in South Kensington, which means the V&A, Natural History Museum, and Science Museum are all within a proper five-minute walk. I mean, you could have breakfast and be staring at dinosaur skeletons before 10 AM if that’s your thing. The area has this effortless sophistication — tree-lined streets, elegant Victorian buildings, and that particular London energy where tourists and locals actually coexist pretty seamlessly.
The Living Space
The apartment setup here is what really sets this place apart from your standard hotel experience. Each unit comes with a proper kitchen (not just a mini-fridge situation), which honestly saves you from the “where should we eat again?” conversation three times a day. The living spaces feel genuinely lived-in rather than sterile — think comfortable sofas you’d actually want to sink into after a day of museum hopping, and windows that let in that soft London light.
Neighborhood Discoveries
What I love about staying here is how quickly you slip into a local rhythm. There’s a Tesco Express around the corner for essentials, but also these brilliant little cafés and pubs that aren’t tourist traps. The area around Exhibition Road has transformed into this pedestrian-friendly cultural quarter — you can wander from the Royal Albert Hall to the museums without dodging traffic. Plus, when you need to venture further, South Kensington tube station connects you to basically anywhere in London within 30 minutes.
Why Guests Love It
People keep coming back here because it solves that classic London accommodation problem — finding somewhere that’s both central and genuinely comfortable for more than a quick overnight stay. The mews location means you get peace and quiet (rare in central London), while still being walking distance from major attractions. It’s particularly perfect for families or anyone planning to stay more than a couple of nights, since having that room to spread out and the option to grab groceries and cook makes such a difference. The 8.2 rating reflects what you actually experience — solid, reliable, and properly located without any major surprises.

A lovely well appointed central apartment.
What could be improved: Very close to food extraction.

"Lovely Mews home close to everything in Kensington"
Lovely Mews home in Kensington that suited our family for a 5 day holiday.
Stones throw from Gloucester Road tube, Waitrose, Tesco Express, Natural History Museum, V&A, Hyde park and a plethora of fast food and restaurant options nearby.
Bathrooms were nice with complimentary soap, shampoo etc
Kitchen was fairly well appointed with the things you need for a holiday stay.
What could be improved: Nothing that we didn’t like but things for consideration.
As the front of the property opened into the street that all the fast food restaurants backed onto, we didn’t want to have the windows open as those smells permeated the living area. Wasn’t a big problem for us as the weather wasn’t hot, but may be problematic come summer. Other reviews haven’t mentioned it so maybe it’s only us 🤷♀️
Due to some miscommunicated instructions, we did not have any hot water when we arrived until it was resolved the following day. I would absolutely check you have hot running water before the owner leaves once they’ve shown you in. It was a very unpleasant time not being able to shower after a long day of travel. Relatively easy to fix but could have been avoided.

"Lovely house in a central location"
This is a lovely mews house in a fantastic location. Note however there are a number of stairs in the house as it is set over 3 levels, with the bottom level - entry - having the second bedroom and ensuite, the 1st floor having the master bedroom, ensuite and a powder room, with the kitchen and living areas on the 2nd floor. For us this was fine, but if stairs are an issue, this property would not suit. Also, while the property is in a fantastic central location, this comes with noise. Again, not an issue for me, but for people seeking quiet, this would not suit.
What could be improved: Dealings with the person who handed over the keys were unprofessional in both apartments we rented from this agency. This is the only detriment to dealing with this agency as all other emails and dealings were professional.

"Excellent location in South Kensington"
Great Location! You cannot have a better location, you have supermarkets, restaurants and metro all no more than 1 min walk. The flat is very clean and nicely decorated, and a huge open living room/kitchen area, which is not very usual in London. Perfect for a short stay in South Ken .
What could be improved: For such a beautiful flat, I am surprised the shower heads in both bathrooms are very old and badly calcified, and it is hard to reach to adjust, a hand held shower heads would be great.
The flat is not situated on the busy street, but is in an alley where the restaurant vents are, which means smell and fan noises can be an issue for some.
I find the both beds are a bit small, there are only two of us, so it worked fine, but if I am traveling with my family, I would feel none of the beds can comfortably fit 2 adults.

"Nice flat centrally located"
It is three level flat (ground, 1st, 2nd). Very clean with nice decoration. Centrally located (I always stay around Gloucester Road Station) with easy metro access. One very large bedroom with ensuite bathroom and wardrobe. Second bedroom (more quite) located at ground floor with ensuite bathroom as well. The communication with flat owners was quick and accurate. All facilities provided were more than OK.
What could be improved: Two things I did not like (1) Wi-Fi speed is really bad - I had to work using my mobile data plan (fortunately I have no limits) (2) The flat is located in the back of restaurant with very noisy (at least to me) ventilating system (if you are a slight sleeper like me, the ground floor bedroom is the best choice - no noise at all).

The location of the apartment is excellent, under 2 minutes walk to Gloucester Road tube station.
The apartment was warm, clean and furnished to a high standard.
What could be improved: No, there is nothing that we did not like with the apartment.
