Overview
First Impressions
Kensington Residence sits right on Kensington High Street, and honestly, the location hits you before anything else does. This four-star property doesn’t try to wow you with flashy lobbies or dramatic entrances — instead, it’s got this understated confidence that I actually found refreshing. The building blends into the streetscape in that particularly London way, where you might walk past it twice before realizing you’ve found your hotel.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You’re literally in the heart of London’s museum district without feeling like you’re trapped in tourist central. Kensington High Street means you can pop into the shops when you need something, but it’s the side streets that really make this area special. I found myself wandering through those quiet residential roads lined with white Victorian houses — the kind of London you see in films but rarely get to experience as a visitor.
The Natural History Museum is maybe a ten-minute walk, and Hyde Park is right there when you need to escape the city noise. But here’s the thing locals know: the real gem is being walking distance to both South Kensington’s restaurant scene and the more laid-back vibe of Notting Hill. You get the best of both worlds without committing to either.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — typical London style where every inch counts. The furniture felt solid rather than showy, and there’s something to be said for a hotel that invests in proper blackout curtains (trust me on this one). The bathroom was modern enough without trying too hard, though I’ll admit the water pressure was better than I expected from a Victorian-era building.
Daily Rhythms
Mornings here have this nice rhythm to them. The breakfast setup isn’t elaborate, but it covers what you actually need before heading out to explore. I appreciated that they didn’t over-complicate things with too many options — sometimes you just want decent coffee and something filling before tackling the Tube. The staff seemed to actually live in London rather than just work here, which meant they could give you proper directions instead of tourist-brochure suggestions.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about Kensington Residence is how it strips away the hotel theater and focuses on the practical stuff. The parking situation is manageable if you’re driving (though honestly, you probably shouldn’t be), and the whole place has this calm efficiency that makes you feel less like a tourist and more like a temporary Londoner. It’s not trying to be the most Instagram-worthy spot in the city — it’s just a solid base for people who want to actually experience London rather than just photograph it.

"Centrally located 2BR 2Bath perfect for our small family."
We were relocated to an alternate location not shown in this listing. The host was able to make the arrangement prior to our arrival. Location was very central. The apartment was clean and well equipped.
What could be improved: The pub adjacent to the property was fairly noisy until midnight on most nights.

"Clean and comfortable accommodation in good location"
The accommodation was clean, cosy and comfortable. Neat and tidy lounge, two bedrooms and nice bathrooms with good powerful showers. Communication on the day was excellent. We were greeted by a very pleasant young man who gave us a warm welcome before handing over our keys. Very good location to explore Kensington area, Hyde Park, Royal Albert Hall etc. All in all a pleasant and relaxing stay.
What could be improved: Unfortunately on the afternoon of our arrival there was a lot of noise from nearby building work and loud thumping music, which seemed to be coming from above us, to accompany, or blot out, the drilling etc. In fairness on our return, having spent the afternoon and evening at Hyde Park, this had stopped and all was peaceful. Slept well in a comfortable bed in what we are sure is normally a quiet and serene neighbourhood.

"Great location and comfortable apartment."
The location was great being near the High Street. It was also very close to the tube and buses. Lots of power points in good locations. It was great having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and plenty of space for the 3 of us.
What could be improved: Some noise from above apartment. It seemed as though cooking was not encouraged - no egg flipper or stirring spoons, and no tea towels provided.
Bed side lamps would have been nice to have. There also was no ironing board provided.

"Exceptional"
It was very nice. Things that could change and it’s minor is the garbage at the front. Also have tea towels for the dishes. We had a lovely time there close to transport and subway.

"A spacious flat in a great location."
This first floor flat is wonderfully located in Kensington, with quick walking distances between both the High Street Kensington tube station and Earl's Court tube station. We had a lot of room to move around, the place was very clean and we felt really safe.
