Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Kensington Courtyard on Cromwell Road, I honestly wasn’t expecting much — the street’s pretty busy and feels a bit institutional with all the museums nearby. But once you step inside, it’s like entering a different world entirely. The lobby has this warm, residential feel that immediately makes you forget you’re on one of London‘s main thoroughfares. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which is refreshing for a four-star hotel in this part of town.
Location Perks
You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Natural History Museum — I mean, you can see it from some of the upper floor windows. South Kensington tube station is right there, so getting anywhere in London is dead easy. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: you’re also perfectly positioned for those lovely garden squares that tourists never find. I spent mornings wandering through the quiet streets behind the hotel, discovering proper London neighborhoods that feel miles away from the tourist chaos.
The Room Experience
My room was on the third floor facing the courtyard (hence the name, I suppose), and it was pleasantly quiet considering the location. The space felt more like a boutique hotel than your typical London chain — thoughtful touches like proper reading lights and a coffee machine that actually works well. The bathroom was compact but cleverly designed, with one of those rainfall showers that makes you linger longer than you should. Storage was adequate, though you’ll need to be strategic if you’re the type who overpacks.
Daily Rhythms
Breakfast happens in a bright ground-floor restaurant that opens onto a small terrace — when London weather cooperates, it’s lovely to sit outside with your coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up. The spread isn’t huge, but everything’s done properly: decent pastries, fresh fruit, and eggs cooked to order. I actually found myself looking forward to it each morning, which says something. The evening crowd in the bar area tends to be a mix of business travelers and couples exploring the museums, creating this relaxed, international atmosphere.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something genuinely comfortable about Kensington Courtyard that keeps drawing people back. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in London, but it gets the fundamentals right — clean, quiet rooms, helpful staff, and a location that puts you in the heart of museum-land without the tourist hotel prices. The parking situation is tricky (this is London, after all), but the tube connections more than make up for it. If you’re planning to spend time exploring Kensington’s museums, parks, and that whole South Ken vibe, this place just makes sense.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in London before spring brings blossom-lined parks, pop-up exhibitions, and warm evening strolls.

"This basement flat is fairly priced in a wonderful part of London."
Location is fantastic.
Good sized property, stayed warm during a very cold spell.
What could be improved: Decor beginning to tire and would benefit from some attention in areas.

What could be improved: Advertised a tumble dryer but there wasn't one

"Excellent!!!!! (Except for the cots)"
Very helpful and available staff. Fabulous location and wonderful apartment.
What could be improved: It was so helpful that cots could be added to the room! Unfortunately, they were very uncomfortable.

"Superb"
The apartment is immaculate and has been recently decorated. Very clean and close to tube and museums.
What could be improved: A great place to stay, no negatives at all.

"Very good"
The location of this apartment is fabulous, the area has all you need ( musea, restaurants, the hop on-off bus is right next to the flat) . We had 2 bedrooms with each a bathroom and a toilet. That is really comfortable for a group of 5. The kitchen is well equipped with a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, toaster .. nothing was missing! We had a minor problem with the extra bed which was a bit small but that bed was replaced immediately by the owner and our 12-year old son could sleep well. We will come back here.
What could be improved: nihil

"Considering the cost of accomodation in London it is a fair compromise for a family of six."
Perfect location in Central London, with two full sized bedroom and a very service oriented staff
What could be improved: The issues are two fold:
1. Beds are not very comfortable and the kitchenware is rather basic
2. The appartment is under ground what brings along some challanges:
-wet walls in some places
-the sewage pipes run in front of the windows what leads to noise and some unpleasent smells from time to time
-we found a mouse in the kitchen! (the property manager reacted immediately installing a trap what is admirable, though based on the reaction I had the impression it was not the first time)

"Excellent stay in a perfect location for sightseeing the surrounding areas and attending the royal albert hall. Beautifu"
Perfect location for attending a show at the royal Albert hall (5-10 min walk) and also exploring Kensington gardens. The apartment is very well appointed with everything you could need for your stay. Very large and spacious with lots of little extras you don’t normally have in an apartment. Iron which is fab, plenty of kitchen equipment ie, coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, oven and microwave (we didn’t use any of the appliances but they were spotlessly clean and others may make use of these) washing up liquid, kitchen roll etc. we were in flat 8 and the bedrooms were very spacious and plenty of storage for any length of stay. 2 bathrooms and again spotlessly clean. Bath and hand towels supplied and hand soap as well as shampoo and shower gels. The only downside for some may be that it is below ground level so no view to outside also the courtyard windows offer good light.
What could be improved: There was nothing we didn’t like.

"Perfect location and spacious accommodation"
The location was perfect and the property managers were very helpful. It was great that we could leave our luggage in a secure place on the day of our departure until we were ready to leave for the station
What could be improved: It was a basement apartment with no window in the living/kitchen/dining area, but that wasn't a major issue for the limited time we spent there

"Superb"
Great location 1 km from Hyde Park, 3 km to Westminster, and close to the metro station. Very good communication with the host - we arrived around 12, and we got the room immediately as it was already cleaned. At the end, he stored our luggage in the storage room. I recommend it to everyone.
What could be improved: The only small downside was the beds - two were foldable and not very comfortable.

"This place was great for a 2-3 night stay with minimal luggage. It was close everything."
The location was excellent. The space inside the flat was great. It was pretty clean for the most part. The towel with the house slippers was a nice touch. The hand soap, body wash and shampoo was nice to have along with plenty of toilet paper. Having a washer with detergent (I assume other guests left behind) was great. The communication with property manager was excellent.
What could be improved: The master bathroom shower did not drain well when using overhead shower but worked better with hand held shower. Didn't like being in the basement flat, no sunlight or fresh air also prone to more bugs. The flat had absolutely nothing in it expect coffee and tea in the kitchen. Being on the bottom floor it was hard carrying suitcases up the narrow stairway.
