Overview
First Impressions
Hotel Shepherds Bush London sits tucked away on a quiet mews street, which honestly surprised me — I was expecting something right on the main drag. The building itself has that classic London townhouse feel, and you know what, there’s something quite charming about approaching it through Poplar Mews rather than dealing with the usual busy hotel entrance chaos.
The Neighborhood Reality
Look, Shepherd’s Bush isn’t Mayfair, but that’s actually what I liked about staying here. You’re in real London — the kind where locals grab their morning coffee and you can duck into proper pubs that aren’t tourist traps. The Westfield shopping center is literally a five-minute walk if retail therapy is your thing, and the transport links are brilliant. I mean, you’ve got both the Central and Hammersmith & City lines right there, plus Overground connections.
Room and Comfort
The room was compact but thoughtfully laid out — typical London hotel sizing, really. What impressed me was the attention to detail; decent shower pressure (always a gamble in older buildings), blackout curtains that actually work, and a comfortable bed that didn’t leave me with a sore back. The four-star rating feels about right — it’s polished and professional without trying to be something it’s not.
Daily Practicalities
Breakfast was solid rather than spectacular, but honestly, that worked fine for me. The staff actually seemed to care about getting things right, which you don’t always find at this price point. There’s parking available, though I’d recommend checking availability when you book — street parking around there can be a proper nightmare during the week.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing about this place — it gets the fundamentals right without any fuss. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or rooftop bars, but you are getting a genuinely comfortable base in a part of London that feels authentic. The transport connections alone make it worth considering, especially if you’re planning to explore beyond Zone 1. For the money, it’s a smart choice that won’t leave you feeling like you’ve compromised on comfort.

"Great location, 5 minute walk to Westfield shopping centre. Friendly staff, room clean and comfortable."
Location, friendly staff
What could be improved: Lighting in room quite dim, lift was out of order

"Great location, great price and cheery chap who checked us in."
Very convenient - right next to Shepherds Bush Market tube (but we didn’t hear any noise from the trains). Good price and lovely tiny bar so we event got a drink to take up to our room. All good.
What could be improved: There were some people hanging around the entrance who looked a bit intimidating but they cheerfully asked us if we were looking for the hotel entrance and pointed us in the right direction!

"Great location & very clean"
Location excellent right by tube station. Efficient Reception staff available 24/7. Very clean & comfortable bed. Lovely hot shower. Kettle & TV.
What could be improved: Toilet bit awkward in tight space - not ideal if you have long legs. Ok for short stay.

"Great value for money"
Brilliant location right next to the market and the tube station, our room was quiet and even with the window open all night, there was that much noise from the underground
What could be improved: Strong smell of bleach when we first got into the room (is was nice and clean!), also a strong smell of personal body odour when we walked in to reception, would have been a much nicer first impression without that...

What could be improved: Double bed and two people booked but only one towel. Nice towel. Asked for second towel which when opend up was basically falling apart.

"Quiet, comfortable and convenient but no parking as stated in description"
Very quiet despite being close to train tracks. Convenient between 2 tube stations and restaurants, pubs, convenience stores nearby and Westfield mall 5-10 min walk.
What could be improved: Our room was at the back on ground floor. Window opened a few inches to a wall so no view or daylight but have stayed here before so was prepared for that. We were only in room at night and slept so didn’t bother us.
Only downside was not being able park- one of the reasons we chose here.
When we stayed before, we were lucky to be able to.
Checked when we booked and we were told it may be possible to park but first come, first served. When we got to hotel mid afternoon, there seemed to be space for my car, as before, but the lady at reception said no and seemed to infer that there was never space for guests, only nearby residents. The parking area was mostly empty all weekend.
We parked in Westfield Mall and it cost £50 for the weekend!!!!!
