Overview
First Impressions
Hotel La Place sits on a quiet Georgian terrace in Marylebone, and honestly, you could walk right past it if you’re not paying attention. The four-star property has that understated London thing going on — cream-colored townhouse facade, black railings, nothing flashy. But that’s actually part of its charm, you know? It feels more like staying in an elegant private residence than a typical hotel.
The Neighborhood
Nottingham Place is one of those streets that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something locals want to keep secret. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Oxford Street’s shopping chaos, but the street itself is surprisingly peaceful. London’s best department stores are right there — Selfridges is practically around the corner — but you can also wander into Marylebone Village for proper cafés and that lovely Sunday farmers market. The Tube stations at Bond Street and Marble Arch are close enough that you’ll never feel stranded.
The Room Experience
My room was compact but thoughtfully designed, which is pretty much what you’d expect in central London. The décor leans classic — think rich fabrics, warm wood tones, and those heavy curtains that actually block out the city light. What impressed me was the attention to detail: proper reading lights, enough outlets for all your devices, and a bathroom that manages to feel spacious despite the limited square footage. The beds are genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable.
Daily Rhythms
Breakfast happens in a cozy ground-floor restaurant that doubles as the bar in the evenings. It’s nothing elaborate — continental spread with some hot options — but the coffee is strong and the staff actually remembers how you like it after a day or two. I mean, it’s these small touches that make a difference when you’re staying somewhere for more than just one night. The evening atmosphere shifts nicely too; locals sometimes drop by for drinks, which always feels like a good sign.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it gets the balance right between location and personality. You’re not paying Mayfair prices, but you’re getting that same polished London experience without feeling like you’re in a corporate chain. The staff knows the neighborhood inside out — they’ll send you to the good pub around the corner or tell you which entrance to use for the Wallace Collection. It’s the sort of place where business travelers feel comfortable, but couples on weekend breaks don’t feel out of place either.

The bed in the suite was literally fantastic. Exceptionally firm and large mattress.

"Very successful"
Excellent location for my needs. Staff were delightful
What could be improved: Whilst the room was clean it was in need of an upgrade. The lavatory seat was cracked and the bath plug was clearly so old and worn I chose therefore to shower instead. The carpets were desperately in need of being replaced. That said the bed was comfortable and bedding spotless as were towels. I had all I needed in there however including a fridge , ironing board, hairdryer. Apart from the room being somewhat aged it was otherwise perfect

"I’d definitely come back. Thank you! Nice place."
The location was exactly what I wanted (I was booked on a weekend course at a local school), the rooms were quiet, clean and pleasant, with an individual slightly quirky décor which I really liked. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful, and seemed totally willing to help with things like looking after my bag after I’d checked out the morning after my stay so I didn’t have to trail it round with me all day. Breakfast was delicious and pleasantly served. If I say the hotel was agreeably ‘old-fashioned’ it’s a real compliment- I mean it seemed much more individual and characterful than a chain hotel, while having modern conveniences like free wi-fi and being clean and well-maintained.
What could be improved: The bathroom could have done with a shower cubicle rather than a bath (the shower fitting over the bath was a little temperamental and wouldn’t stay put, and the bath would be hard for an elderly person to get in and out of). Otherwise no problem.

"Surprisely comfortable for a small hotel that is well situated near Regent Park."
Polite and helpful staff, very clean and small but comfortable room and bath. Elevator helps get your bags to the room.
What could be improved: Narrow hallways but not really a problem.

"Will return!"
Everything, location, elegant and classic look of the room and property, cleanliness, availability/kindness of reception/front desk/manager/housekeeping to kindly assist and honour requests, etc. Coffee creamers, decaf, kettle. Ability to use firestick.
What could be improved: Not having usbs or plugs near the bed. It was a struggle to charge at the desk my devices as a journalist. I needed more areas to charge.

"Excellent location, friendly staff"
The location was perfect, just off baker street, a short walk from the Baker Street tube station (perfect if you’re going f to a gig at Wembley like I did!)
The staff were so friendly and helpful!
The room I stayed in was simple and cosy but perfect for what I needed. Aircon works well in the room.
They let me leave my bag for the day after I checked out which was amazing! And they even found my AirPods after I’d misplaced them!
The breakfast was great, I had the full English.
I would definitely stay here again
What could be improved: Nothing, I had a great stay, it was perfect for my 1 night.
