Walking up to Hidden Modern Gem Zone 1! on Greyhound Road, I’ll be honest — the exterior doesn’t scream “boutique hotel.” But that’s actually part of its charm. This four-star property sits quietly in Hammersmith, and once you step inside, you realize the name isn’t just marketing fluff. The lobby has this clean, minimalist vibe that feels genuinely modern without trying too hard.
Location Perks
Here’s what I love about this spot in London — you’re in Zone 1, which means the Tube connections are fantastic, but you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos of Central London. Hammersmith Bridge is a five-minute walk, and honestly, crossing it at sunset is one of those simple pleasures that makes a trip memorable. The neighborhood has that lived-in London feel, with proper pubs and local spots mixed in with the chain stores.
The Room Experience
My room was smaller than what you’d get in a big chain hotel — this is London, after all — but the design made every inch count. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and I appreciated the blackout curtains (crucial when you’re dealing with jet lag). The bathroom was compact but well-designed, with a shower that actually had decent water pressure. Storage space was clever too, with built-in solutions that didn’t feel cramped.
Neighborhood Dining
You won’t find a fancy restaurant on-site, but that’s not really a problem here. Hammersmith has some excellent dining options within walking distance, from gastropubs to proper curry houses. There’s a Tesco Express around the corner for basics, and the Broadway Shopping Centre is close if you need anything else. I actually preferred exploring the local food scene rather than being stuck with hotel dining.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place work is that it doesn’t oversell itself — it’s a solid, well-run hotel in a genuinely useful location. The staff were helpful without being overly chatty, and the whole operation felt efficient. You’re paying for the Zone 1 location and modern amenities, not for marble lobbies or concierge services you probably won’t use anyway. For the price point, it delivers exactly what most travelers actually need: a comfortable base in London that won’t eat your entire budget.

"Definitely will book again for the next year venue."
Great location, nice quiet area. Everything you need was available in the apartment, although small, it was very cozy.
What could be improved: The towel dryer in the bathroom didn't work, and there wasn't enough ventilation or electrical outlets.

"It was a lovely apartment in a good location."
Property over all was nice and cozy, airy. Everything we needed was there. There were few more extras available that was lovely if we needed. We felt welcomed. Close to local shops and restaurants, coffee shops. Walking distance away from two underground metro stations. Neighbourhood overall is quiet, not too noisy. We liked it there. Owner responded quickly when I reached out and was trying to help.
What could be improved: We couldn’t use tv and that was a big downside as we didn’t prepare to entertain two small children ourselves after spending all day out and tv would have been nice to unwind in the evenings.
Shower drainage was a bit slow, water was overflowing when having showers one after another and it was a heatwave during our stay.
We found quite a few dark long hair strands but that wasn’t too bad.

The zone is good and near to the metro.

What could be improved: There was an issue with the bath and there is not AC.

"Ok but wouldn’t stay again"
What could be improved: The squeaky beds very light curtains in the bedrooms and very poor lighting in the bathroom and lack of an extractor fan in the bathroom The front door was appalling looked like you were going into a very run down house

"Loud but affordable"
The keys were in a lockbox. The box was easy to find. The apartment is located between two well-connected tube lines. The place has three seperate rooms and a very practical kitchen. It was very clean, quite spacious and there were more than enough towels, sheets and supplies. Even a washing machine and freezer.
What could be improved: We travelled with two kids (3 and 5) and their grandmother. We did not get the code for the lockbox until late in the evening, which was stressful. When we arrived the third bed was not made up. We had to look for the sheets while the kids were very tired. The place is extremely noisy (you hear everything that is said downstairs or on the street), the beds are not very comfortable and the curtains do not block the light at all. This made it hard to fall asleep. Then again. We got everyone ear plugs + blindfolds and the second night was better. Better a clean and affordable apartment than a dirty one. Pity there is no wifi code anywhere either.

"Apartameno estupendo, lo demás ya… es otra cosa"
El alojamiento se ve completamente reformado, los muebles se nota que son nuevos y tienen una buena limpieza. La estación de metro está cerca y es fácil comunicarse con el centro.
What could be improved: El pasillo del edificio olía muy muy mal todos los dias (a podrido o muerto). Nos faltó atención e información por parte del anfitrión que hasta último momento no tuvimos noticias del código de acceso, llegamos a pensar que era una estafa. Faltó informar de en que piso se encontraba el alojamiento, estuvimos rato intentando abrir varias puertas que resultaron no ser el apartamento alquilado.

"Excelente ubicación y muy tranquilo"
El alojamiento tiene muy buenos espacios comunes y es tal cual como en las fotos! Muy buen equipado y en la cocina encuentras todo lo necesario

"Agradable"
El apartamento está bien no es pequeño para 4 personas ,zona tranquila no se escuchaban ruidos ,buena ubicación cerca del metro y de varios autobuses , además de supermercados .
Volvería alojarme .
What could be improved: Las camas demasiado blandas , no tener persianas o cortinas más oscuras en las habitaciones y falta de sillas al ser 4 personas las que nos alojábamos . Faltaría un tendedero para la ropa .
