Overview
First Impressions
Grays Inn Road – Room 1 isn’t your typical hotel experience — honestly, it’s more like staying in someone’s thoughtfully curated apartment than a traditional hospitality setup. Located on a busy stretch of Grays Inn Road in London‘s Camden area, this unique boutique hotel without official star rating operates more like a stylish guesthouse where attention to detail trumps corporate polish.
Location & Getting Around
The location actually works really well if you know London — you’re positioned between King’s Cross and Russell Square, which means you’ve got multiple tube lines within walking distance. I mean, King’s Cross St. Pancras is about a 10-minute walk, and that connects you to practically everywhere. The neighborhood has that authentic London feel too, with local pubs and corner shops mixed in with the legal district crowd (the Inns of Court are right there).
The Space
What you get is essentially a well-appointed room that feels more residential than hotel-standard. The setup includes a compact kitchenette area — nothing fancy, but enough to make coffee and handle simple meals if you’re trying to save money on dining out. The decor leans modern with some vintage touches, and you know what, it actually feels quite homey once you settle in.
Practical Considerations
This isn’t a place with a 24-hour front desk or room service — you’ll need to be fairly self-sufficient here. Parking can be tricky since you’re on a main road in central London, so I’d honestly recommend using public transport instead. The trade-off is that you’re staying somewhere with character rather than a generic chain hotel, and the price point reflects that more personal, low-key approach.
Why Guests Love It
People seem to appreciate the independence this place offers — you get your own space without the formality of traditional hotels. It works particularly well for longer stays or if you prefer exploring London from a more authentic base rather than a touristy area. The Camden location puts you close enough to central attractions but far enough out that you’re experiencing where actual Londoners live and work.
London’s apartments welcome long stays with terrace views, museum access, and bike routes to hidden mews streets.

"Good room, good location, lacking communication"
Location is very convenient.
Room was quiet, clean and bed was comfortable.
What could be improved: Access to the room was confusing and difficult. We needed clearer communication with how to get into the room ahead of time. We arrived at the arranged check in time but couldn't get in for almost 2 hours. The contact phone number provided was incorrect. We finally heard back after emailing.
Room had less than 1 roll of toilet paper

"Good value"
Very comfortable bed. Excellent location.
What could be improved: It wasn't very clean. Dirty cutlery had been put back into the cupboard and there were dust balls next to the bed.

"Very good"
I liked having a mini kitchen. The location was great and a a lone female i felt safe. Lots of storage space and it was surprisingly quiet.
What could be improved: There were no hand towels or washing up brush/sponge. Some of the cutlery wasn't very clean.

"Good"
Convenience to St Pancras Station. Comfortable
What could be improved: TV was broken. Small packs of milk for tea would have been nice.

"Great location for St. Pancras/ King's Cross"
Perfect location for St. Pancras. Microwave kettle, plates, fridge. Comfortable. And spacious. The price was good considering it was a late booking. I would stay there again.
What could be improved: Enter codes could be better.

"Easy to find and get in. Great location. Clean and comfy. Good communication!"
Great little apartment located very conveniently for St Pancras. Tidy, clean and comfortable. Easy to get in but if you have trouble with stairs this is not for you! Not the Ritz but brilliant value for the money if you just want to have somewhere to sleep and store your cases when on your travels. Loads of restaurants and bars around. St Pancras only 2 minutes walk. I will deffo use again when I'm on Euro travels!
What could be improved: I could be richer and more handsome! The room though is good for the money!

"Would stay again"
The location is fantastic, a huge selling point. Facilities were great, there was a fan and hairdryer provided which was a bonus. We would stay again as it was good value for money.
What could be improved: The bed was incredibly loud even with the smallest movement, plus, it wasn’t overly uncomfortable so we had a poor sleep. There was only one pillow each, which isn’t ideal, would be nice to have a couple spare in the wardrobe. Understandably there was a lot of road noise which was expected, but the building was quite loud, we could hear the slightest movement and noise from other guests.
