Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Golden Square Soho feels a bit like discovering a well-kept secret in the heart of London. The building sits right on Golden Square — one of those perfect little garden squares that you’d walk past a hundred times without noticing if you weren’t looking for it. It’s a three-star place that doesn’t try to be anything it’s not, which honestly makes it more charming than half the flashier hotels in the area.
The Soho Advantage
You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You’re literally in the thick of Soho without the chaos of Oxford Street crushing you. Golden Square itself is this quiet pocket where office workers grab lunch and locals walk their dogs, but step out onto Regent Street and you’ve got every shop you could want. I mean, you’re a two-minute walk from Liberty, and Carnaby Street is right there when you want that proper Soho vibe.
The Room Experience
The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid mid-range London hotel — not huge, but cleverly designed to make the most of the space. My room had this nice mix of modern touches with some classic British hotel character. The beds are actually comfortable (which isn’t always a given in London), and the WiFi works properly throughout the building. The bathrooms are compact but functional, with decent water pressure — something you learn to appreciate after a few London hotel stays.
Getting Around
Here’s where the location really shines — Oxford Circus tube is practically on your doorstep, which means you can get anywhere in London without much fuss. But honestly, I found myself walking most places because you’re already so central. Covent Garden, Leicester Square, even the British Museum if you don’t mind a pleasant stroll through Bloomsbury. The theater district is close enough that you can easily catch a show and walk back without worrying about late-night transport.
Why Guests Love It
What makes Golden Square Soho work is that it gives you authentic London without the tourist trap feeling. The staff actually know the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward the good pubs (there’s a lovely one just around the corner) rather than just handing you a generic tourist map. The building has character without being stuffy, and the rates are reasonable for what you get in this part of town. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in London rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense.

"A great location for theatre patrons with modem and clean amenities."
Hotel was great and perfect for our quick stay. It was a small room but had a kitchen and fridge which we needed.
What could be improved: Lift was cramped with 2 people and had an issue which forced me to lug my suitcase to the 4th floor.

"Home from home for the night"
Location, cleanliness, and facilities all good. Made use of the tv, fridge and microwave. Slept very very well. Location is perfect, especially if you intend to brave shopping on Oxford Street on a Saturday as this place is a little haven away from the hustle and bustle, but also nearby. Enjoyed sitting in golden square first thing on Sunday morning with morning coffee. Plenty of bars and cafes nearby. No noise, other than a little bit for a very short while from a nearby bar which ceased around 10pm.
What could be improved: Only some small gripes: crumbs on top of microwave, used piece of kitchen towel on windowsill, no earplugs provided despite there being a tray in the room purporting to contain these (i wouldn't have used them anyway as I didnt need to, but they should have been there in case I did). Main gripe: you follow a very specific planned set of instructions to obtain keys. I followed said instructions and the keys were not there. Initially panicked thinking I'd been conned. Fortunately a guy who was walking past me when this was unfolding saw the issue I was having and got me a key in 5 mins (I'm guessing he was some form of on site staff member), so issue resolved.

"Fab location for central London"
Excellent location, right in central London, but in a little square away from the hustle and bustle. Studio well equipped and very comfortable bed. Easy check in and quick responses when needed. Would definitely return when looking to stay in London.
What could be improved: An issue with cleaning, however apologies made and dealt with.
