Elicia’s South Kensington Apartment
First Impressions
Elicia’s South Kensington Apartment sits right on Thurloe Street, and honestly, you couldn’t ask for a better spot in London. The moment I walked up to number 13, I could see why this four-star place gets such solid reviews — it’s one of those Georgian townhouse conversions that just feels authentically London without trying too hard. The entrance is understated but welcoming, and you immediately get the sense that someone actually cares about this place.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re literally a two-minute walk from South Kensington tube station, which means you can be at Harrods or the Natural History Museum without breaking a sweat. But more importantly, you’re tucked into this quiet residential street where actual Londoners live. I mean, there’s a proper local pub just around the corner, and the kind of corner shops where you can grab decent coffee and a newspaper without fighting through tourist crowds.
The Space Itself
The apartment feels more like staying in someone’s well-appointed home than a typical hotel room. Each unit has its own character — mine had these lovely high ceilings and original features that you just don’t get in modern hotels. The kitchen is actually functional too, not just for show, which is brilliant if you want to make a proper cup of tea or store some groceries from the Waitrose down the road. Everything’s clean and thoughtfully arranged, though don’t expect flashy modern amenities everywhere.
Daily Rhythms
What struck me most was how this place lets you settle into London life naturally. There’s no bustling hotel lobby or formal restaurant — instead, you get your keys, head upstairs, and suddenly you’re living like a temporary Londoner. The staff are helpful when you need them but otherwise leave you to your own devices. Parking can be tricky in this area (it’s London, after all), but the tube connections are so good that you really don’t need a car anyway.
Why Guests Love It
This isn’t the kind of place that overwhelms you with amenities or tries to be everything to everyone. Instead, it does one thing really well — it gives you a genuine base in one of London’s most livable neighborhoods. You’ll find yourself popping into the local cafés, walking through the garden squares, and actually feeling like you belong here rather than just passing through. That 8.6 rating makes perfect sense once you realize this place is about authenticity over flash.
Apartments in London suit families with bright bay windows, full kitchens, and sunset loops through Hyde Park paths.
