Overview
First Impressions
Eldon Chambers Pod 2 by City Living London is tucked away in one of those narrow courts you’d walk right past if you didn’t know it was there. I mean, Devereux Court feels almost hidden — which is honestly part of its charm. This three-star spot isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and there’s something refreshing about that approach in a city where everything seems to oversell itself.
The Location Game
You’re basically in the heart of legal London here, surrounded by barristers in wigs and centuries-old buildings that have seen more history than most museums. The Royal Courts of Justice are practically next door, and you can walk to Covent Garden in about three minutes — though honestly, the real treat is being so close to the Thames without the tourist chaos. Somerset House is right there, and the Strand gives you everything from theaters to that random mix of shops you only find in this part of town.
The Pod Experience
Look, when they say “pod,” they mean it — this isn’t a sprawling hotel room situation. The space is compact and efficiently designed, sort of like a really well-thought-out ship cabin. Everything has its place, and while you won’t be hosting dinner parties, there’s something oddly satisfying about how everything fits together. The modern fixtures work well against the building’s older bones, and you get the sense that someone actually thought about how travelers really use a space.
Neighborhood Character
What I love about staying here is how you’re dropped into actual working London rather than tourist London. In the morning, you’ll see the legal crowd grabbing coffee and discussing cases — it’s like getting a peek behind the curtain of how the city really operates. The area goes pretty quiet after business hours, which means you get that rare thing in central London: actual peace and quiet for sleeping. Plus, you’re close enough to walk to pretty much anywhere in Zone 1 without feeling like you need to budget for constant Tube rides.
Why Guests Love It
The 7.5 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting — this isn’t about fancy amenities or over-the-top service. It’s about being genuinely well-located with a clean, functional space that doesn’t break the bank. The pod concept works because it strips away the unnecessary stuff and focuses on what actually matters: a good bed, reliable WiFi, and being where you want to be in the city. You know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially when you’re spending most of your time exploring rather than hanging around your accommodation.

"Lovely room with enough space for two."
We really enjoyed having airco in the room.
What could be improved: Well the tv was having troubles, but that's all we can think of.

Location
What could be improved: Ac would not turn off. Wish things like toiletries and tea would be topped up without needing to ask

"Great area and comfortable"
The vicinity to everything from the legal district to the Temple station or Holborn station. Close to really pubs and main roads and Thames, but because it’s on a cul de sac, quiet.
What could be improved: If i would really have to choose it would be the door noise every time someone opens their door in the passage - which had a vacuum effect jerking your door.

"Good"
Overall, the apartment was excellent with all amenities and good location
What could be improved: they provided only one bottle of shower gel for our 6-night stay. When we requested more, we were told they only supply it once per stay, which seems unreasonable given the length of our stay compared to a 1-night stay. As we were traveling across Europe for 28 days, carrying extra shower gel wasn't feasible

"Very good"
Excellent location, easy walk to loads of tourist spots and a quick walk to Temple station. The flat is located in a quiet corner too so not many people about and quiet during the evenings.
What could be improved: The room is quite small, not a lot of space for two suitcases. Paying for the location which is excellent, and London accommodation is quite expensive, but pretty expensive for what you get.

"Nice stay with a couple of small issues..."
We loved the location, the room was pretty clean and had everything necessary.
What could be improved: They took an extra 35 pounds, that surely weren't there or noticable when I originally made the order, like another website (Abnb), pretty annoying.
The bed was not comfortable for us - very soft, and the shower was very weak and the height not adjustable.
Other than that it really has everything and is very well located, and was generally nice.

"Fantastic location, good room with minor flaws. Bit pricey for what you get"
The location was fantastic. Very central and as soon as you walk out the door, you're surrounded by beautiful, old architecture that instantly makes you feel inspired. The check-in process was uncomplicated (via code) and the wifi worked without a problem. Everything was adequately clean too. I liked that there was a hairdryer and ironing board, and USB outlets next to the bed. AC/heater worked fine.
What could be improved: I will say that for the price, I expected more. The room is tiny and there's no place to sit down and eat together, even though there is a shared kitchen in the building. The shower head was broken and would not stay up. Worst of all: extremely weak water pressure, and the hot water runs out pretty quickly. I showered for approx. 6 minutes and my partner, who went after me, had to finish his shower with lukewarm water. The window in the bathroom doesn't properly close all the way, so it's always cold even though the heaters were on. The safe didn't work. For the price, I just expected a bit more.

"Perfect location if you want to explore London"
Perfect location. It is in the city centre of London. Walk a few minutes to the Temple subway station, bus stops and Tesco Express. We were offered an early check-in, which was very helpful after a long overnight flight.
What could be improved: The room is smaller than expected.
