DoubleTree by Hilton London Victoria
First Impressions
Walking into DoubleTree by Hilton London Victoria, you’re greeted with that signature warm cookie smell — honestly, it never gets old. The lobby feels modern without being cold, and the staff actually seem happy to see you. I mean, it’s a four-star hotel in Westminster, so expectations are set pretty high from the start.
Perfect Victoria Location
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally two minutes from Victoria Station, which sounds touristy but is actually brilliant for getting anywhere in London. The Gatwick Express stops right there, so airport transfers are a breeze. Plus, you can walk to Buckingham Palace in about ten minutes, though I’d recommend cutting through St. James’s Park instead of taking the main roads.
The Rooms
The room I stayed in was on the seventh floor, overlooking the neighborhood’s mix of Victorian terraces and modern blocks. Nothing fancy, but the bed was properly comfortable — you know that firm-but-soft sweet spot that makes you sleep like a baby. The bathroom’s compact but functional, with decent water pressure and those little toiletries that are better than expected.
Dining and Amenities
The ground-floor restaurant serves solid British and international dishes, though honestly, with Victoria’s food scene right outside your door, you might want to explore. Borough Market’s just a quick tube ride away if you’re into that sort of thing. There’s a small fitness center that does the job — nothing spectacular, but it has everything you need for a quick workout between sightseeing.
Why Guests Love It
What really works here is the balance between professional service and that neighborhood feel. The concierge actually knows the area — they pointed me toward a fantastic pub on Warwick Way that I never would’ve found otherwise. And while parking in central London is always a nightmare, they do have valet service if you’re brave enough to drive in the city. It’s the kind of place where business travelers and tourists both feel comfortable, which isn’t always easy to pull off.
