DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London – Tower of London
First Impressions
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London – Tower of London sits on a quiet side street in the City, and honestly, you’d walk right past it if you weren’t looking. But that’s actually part of its charm — it feels like a well-kept secret tucked away from the tourist chaos, even though you’re literally minutes from Tower Bridge. The lobby has that warm DoubleTree vibe with dark wood and burgundy accents, and yes, they still do the chocolate chip cookie thing at check-in.
Location That Actually Works
I mean, you can’t get much better than this spot if you want to be near the major sights without staying in a touristy nightmare. Tower Bridge is a three-minute walk, the Tower of London is right there, and you can stroll along the Thames path whenever you need to clear your head. What I really love though is that it’s in the actual City of London — the financial district — so during weekends it gets surprisingly quiet while still being perfectly connected to everything else.
The Room Experience
The rooms are what you’d expect from a four-star Hilton property — clean, comfortable, nothing too fancy but definitely solid. I stayed in a standard room facing the courtyard, which was actually perfect because it blocked out most of the street noise. The bed was genuinely comfortable (those DoubleTree beds really are consistent), and the bathroom was modern enough, though not huge. You know what surprised me? The view from some of the higher floors — you can actually catch glimpses of the Thames and Tower Bridge if you crane your neck just right.
Food and Amenities
The ground-floor restaurant serves decent British fare with a modern twist, though I’ll be honest — with Borough Market just across the river and all the pubs around Leadenhall Market nearby, you might want to explore a bit. Breakfast was solid — full English if you want it, continental if you don’t, and the coffee was actually pretty good. There’s a small fitness center that does the job, and the staff genuinely seemed to care about making sure everything was working properly.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to blow your mind with cutting-edge design or over-the-top service, but it delivers exactly what most people need from a London hotel. You’re paying for location and reliability here, and both are spot-on. The fact that you can walk to St. Paul’s, cross Tower Bridge on foot, and still hop on the Tube at Tower Hill or Aldgate makes it incredibly practical. Plus, being in the City means you get a real sense of London’s working heart, not just the tourist version.
