This part of SW6 is brilliant if you know what you’re getting into. You’re not in the thick of Chelsea proper — it’s more like Chelsea’s quieter, slightly more affordable cousin. The Fulham Broadway tube station is about a 10-minute walk, and from there you can get pretty much anywhere without the hassle of changing lines multiple times. Plus, there’s decent parking on the street if you’re brave enough to drive in London, which you probably shouldn’t be.

The staff knows your name after a day or two, but they’re not hovering constantly. You can cook your own meals or walk five minutes to some genuinely good pubs and cafes — The White Horse on Parsons Green is particularly worth your time. It’s the kind of place where you can actually settle in for a few days and feel like you’re living in London rather than just visiting it, which is exactly what some travelers want but rarely find.
