First Impressions
Casa Emilio – Soho – by Frankie Says sits right in the heart of one of London’s most electric neighborhoods, and honestly, you feel that energy the moment you step inside. This four-star boutique spot has this perfectly curated vibe that’s part Spanish warmth, part Soho cool — like someone took the best bits of a Madrid tapas bar and dropped them into a Georgian townhouse. The lobby feels intimate rather than grand, which actually works in its favor when you’re looking to escape the madness outside.
The Soho Experience
You know what’s brilliant about this location? You’re literally surrounded by some of London’s best food, but you’re tucked away just enough to avoid the worst of the tourist crowds. I mean, you can walk to Covent Garden in about ten minutes, hit the West End theaters without breaking a sweat, and there’s this fantastic little Italian place around the corner that locals actually go to. The streets here have that proper Soho character — narrow, slightly chaotic, but never boring.
The Room
The room I stayed in had this warm, lived-in feel that’s hard to fake — think rich fabrics, thoughtful lighting, and just enough Spanish touches to remind you of the name. The bed was properly comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually delivers on the promise. There’s good storage space too, which sounds boring but honestly matters when you’re in London for more than a night or two.
Food and Social Spaces
The ground-floor restaurant serves up this modern Spanish menu that’s way better than it has any right to be for a hotel dining room. I had these incredible prawns that were perfectly charred, and the wine list leans heavily Spanish — which makes sense given the theme. The space doubles as a bar in the evenings, and it gets pretty lively with a good mix of guests and locals who’ve discovered it’s not just another hotel restaurant.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing — Casa Emilio doesn’t try to be everything to everyone, and that focus really pays off. The staff genuinely seem to enjoy working here (you can always tell), and they know the neighborhood well enough to point you toward the good stuff rather than the obvious tourist traps. With that 9.1 rating, it’s clear other people are picking up on the same authentic vibe that made my stay memorable. It’s the kind of place that feels special without being pretentious, right in the middle of Soho’s beautiful chaos.
