Camden House – Next to Camden Market and Station – City Center
First Impressions
Camden House – Next to Camden Market and Station – City Center caught me off guard in the best possible way. I’ll be honest — I was expecting another cookie-cutter hotel, but this unique boutique hotel without official star rating has so much character packed into its Victorian bones. The building sits right on Rousden Street, and you can literally hear the buzz from Camden Market just steps away.
Location That Actually Delivers
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places that claim to be “near everything,” but this one actually means it. Camden Station is maybe a two-minute walk — I timed it because I was running late for a train. The market’s right there too, which means you’ll wake up to the sounds of vendors setting up their stalls. Some might find it noisy, but honestly, it felt like being part of London‘s heartbeat.
The Room Experience
My room was quirky in all the right ways — think exposed brick walls mixed with modern touches that don’t try too hard. The bathroom was compact but well-designed, and I appreciated the rainfall shower after long days exploring. What really got me was the window view of the street below; you can people-watch for hours as Camden’s eclectic crowd drifts by.
Neighborhood Vibe
Camden’s not for everyone, I get that. It’s gritty, loud, and sometimes feels like organized chaos. But if you want to experience London beyond the tourist bubble, this is your spot. There’s this incredible Lebanese restaurant around the corner that locals actually eat at, plus late-night pubs where you’ll hear more accents than you can count. The Regent’s Canal runs nearby too — perfect for morning walks when you need to escape the market crowds.
Why Guests Love It
Camden House works because it doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. The staff actually know the area and give solid recommendations (not just the usual tourist traps). You’re paying for location and character here, not fancy amenities or room service. I mean, when you can grab amazing street food from the market and eat it by the canal, who needs a hotel restaurant anyway?
