Overview
First Impressions
Honestly, when I first walked up to Camden Flat on Barker Drive, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The building sits quietly in a residential pocket of London that feels refreshingly removed from the tourist chaos, yet you’re still properly in the thick of things. This four-star property has that understated British charm — no flashy lobby or doormen in top hats, just solid Georgian architecture and a sense that you’ve stumbled onto something locals actually know about.
The Neighborhood Feel
What I love about this spot is how it captures the real Camden vibe without the market madness. You’re a stone’s throw from Regent’s Park (actually useful for morning jogs), and the Camden Town buzz is close enough when you want it but far enough that you can sleep peacefully. The surrounding streets have that proper London residential feel — tree-lined, with those classic terraced houses that make you feel like you’re living in a Richard Curtis film for a few days.
Inside Your Space
The room setup here is what really sets this place apart from typical hotel stays. These aren’t cramped London boxes — you get proper space to spread out, and each unit feels more like staying in a well-appointed local friend’s place than a corporate hotel chain. The kitchenette situation is genuinely useful too (I mean, London dining prices can be brutal), with enough equipment to handle breakfast and simple meals without feeling like you’re camping indoors.
What Actually Works
The staff here seem to actually care, which sounds basic but honestly isn’t always guaranteed in London hospitality. They know the neighborhood well — where to grab decent coffee at 7am, which bus routes actually work, that sort of practical stuff that makes a difference when you’re navigating an unfamiliar area. The building itself feels well-maintained without being overly precious about it, and you get the sense that things just work properly.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest place you’ve ever stayed, but there’s something refreshing about a property that focuses on getting the fundamentals right rather than trying to wow you with unnecessary extras. You’re getting solid value in a city where accommodation costs can be eye-watering, plus you’re staying somewhere that feels authentically London rather than generically international. The 8.3 rating makes sense — it’s the kind of place where small details work in your favor, and you find yourself recommending it to friends back home without really knowing why.

"It was exactly as expected, very comfortable, great location, nice residential neighbourhood"
The location was fantastic, a ten minute walk from Camden Town station, so obviously very close to Camden Lock as well. Two of us travelled by train into Euston and could have walked from there too.
What could be improved: There was nothing we didn't like. The spiral staircase to the loft bedroom is steep and narrow but it's a loft room, so I wouldn't expect anything else.

"Lovely flat, great location, great host."
The flat had everything we needed for our weekend break with family. It even had a clothes steamer as well as an iron. The location was really handy to Camden Market and the tube station. There was plenty of room for the six of us. The host was great at keeping in touch and making sure we had everything.
What could be improved: No complaints at all.

"Superb"
Great location. Walking distance from St. Pancras, next to Camden Market, and the area + canal as a tranquil haven was a nice bonus. Separate bedrooms for 6 people (we had two kids with us).

"Excellent quiet easy to access location . Great for Camden Market"
Very quiet area . Easy access to Camden market and public transport. Well stocked kitchen. Host very responsive
What could be improved: The ceiling height in the loft bedroom is very low . Have to crouch if you are tall. The spiral stairs very narrow .

"Recommended apartment for a family trip"
Apartment distributed over two floors. A flight of stairs from the street and another flight inside to go up to the main floor. Access to the attic bedroom via a narrow spiral staircase.
The apartment is located in a quiet residential area, silent at night. In a 10 minutes walk there is Candem Town area with a lot of shops and several buses and underground (northern line) that leads directly to the center (in 15 minutes).
Cleaning very correct although in some areas a deep cleaning would be needed. The owner provides dish soap, adapters for plugs, hand soap, shampoo and gel. There is also a hair dryer and iron although we did not use it.
The owner wrote us an email through booking to give us the code to open the door. There are no keys, just the code, which is convenient if we want to separate during the day.
What could be improved: The dishwasher doesn't work well, we put the tablet in the bottom to make sure it dissolves. Some sockets were not working or were loose. The windows do not close well but it does not bother us since the heating works well. There are no exterior blinds or blackout curtains, the light woke us up very early. The interior blinds in the living room and rear bedroom need repair.
