Overview
First Impressions
Buxton Road Suites sits on a quiet residential street in London’s Thornton Heath area — honestly, it’s the kind of place you’d walk past without a second glance if you didn’t know what you were looking for. The building itself is unassuming, which I actually appreciated after dealing with some of the more pretentious hotels in central London. This four-star property feels more like stumbling upon a well-kept secret than checking into a flashy tourist magnet.
The Suites Experience
What immediately sets this place apart is that you’re getting an actual apartment rather than just a hotel room. I mean, the space feels like someone’s nicely furnished flat — there’s a proper living area where you can actually spread out, and the kitchen setup means you’re not stuck eating out for every meal. The furnishings are modern without being sterile, and you know what? The Wi-Fi actually works consistently, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed.
Location Reality Check
Look, Thornton Heath isn’t Covent Garden — let’s be clear about that. But here’s the thing: you’re about 20 minutes from central London by train, and the Thornton Heath station is a pretty manageable walk from the hotel. The neighborhood itself is genuinely residential, which means you’ll see actual Londoners going about their daily lives rather than just other tourists. There’s a decent selection of local shops and cafes within walking distance, plus the parking situation is way less stressful than anywhere in Zone 1.
Practical Comforts
The kitchenette setup is surprisingly well-equipped — I was able to make proper coffee in the morning and even put together simple meals when I didn’t feel like venturing out. The beds are comfortable enough that I actually slept well (no small feat when you’re adjusting to London time), and the bathrooms are clean with decent water pressure. Storage space is adequate, though if you’re the type who travels with three suitcases, you might feel a bit cramped.
Why Guests Love It
What really works here is the value proposition. You’re getting significantly more space than a typical London hotel room, plus the independence of having your own kitchen and living area. The staff is helpful without being intrusive, and the whole setup feels more like having a temporary London address than staying in a hotel. Sure, you’re trading some central location convenience for space and affordability, but if you don’t mind a short commute into the city center, it’s honestly a pretty smart trade-off for most travelers.
Exploring London blends royal heritage, UNESCO landmarks, and vibrant neighborhoods glowing with golden-hour light.

"Comfortable and quiet location"
Looked like the pictures, which is somewhat rare on Booking.com. Very tastefully and nicely decorated with clean lines and professional finish. Loads of hidden storage. I was in Apt 6. Quality appliances that were clean. Good water pressure and nice big shower cubicle. Good bus route options from main road. Nearest stop 5 mins away. Table in room for personal work
What could be improved: About 3 fast food shops around the corner, High Street about 10-15 mins walk away.
Is a loft apartment, so no view of the road, only sky, so very private in that sense.
Mattress is memory foam and unfortunately I ended up with back pain, as I usually sleep on medium/firm, so if you have back issues, you may want to consider this.

"Great for short stays"
Quiet neighbourhood, property well maintained and clean, super easy check-in.
You won’t find this quality at this price in central Ldn.
Overall very satisfied, great for short stays!
What could be improved: A bit far from central London, but a bus ride away from a Thameslink which gets you there relatively quickly.
Would have preferred knowing about the 75GBP deposit before booking though.
The walls are a bit thin in places, but luckily my neighbours were not too loud.
Overall very good compromise, will come back for short stays!

"Absolutely grand! Convenient, comforting, and exactly what was needed."
The location was really useful, right near some places to grab food or use the train lines. The place itself was fabulous: clean, well maintained, comfortable, and a bonus of a lovely host.
What could be improved: Personally I got slightly confused of how to get there from the train service, however, after the first time it was simple. I also had some reservations about using the door lock but that actually turned out well.
