Buckingham Palace Residences by Aeria Apartments
First Impressions
You know what caught me off guard about Buckingham Palace Residences by Aeria Apartments? The name isn’t just clever marketing — you’re literally a stone’s throw from the actual palace. Walking up to this four-star property on Buckingham Gate, I could see the Royal Standard fluttering in the distance, which honestly made me feel a bit posh just checking in. The building itself has that classic Westminster look, all cream-colored stone and elegant windows, but inside it’s been given a thoroughly modern makeover.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about staying in Westminster — most hotels either cost a fortune or feel like tourist traps, but this place strikes a different balance. You’re genuinely in the heart of political London, with St. James’s Park right across the street (perfect for morning runs, by the way). I mean, you can walk to Victoria Station in about eight minutes, which makes airport transfers ridiculously easy. The area gets busy during the day with all the government workers and tourists doing the palace circuit, but evenings are surprisingly peaceful.
The Apartment Experience
What sets this place apart is that you’re getting an apartment, not just a hotel room — and trust me, there’s a real difference. Mine had a proper kitchen with full-sized appliances, which saved me from eating overpriced hotel food every night. The living space actually feels like somewhere you could settle in for a week, not just crash for a night. The décor leans contemporary without being cold, lots of grays and whites with pops of color that don’t scream “corporate housing.”
Daily Life Here
The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood — they pointed me toward a fantastic little café on Victoria Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. There’s no traditional hotel restaurant, but honestly, you don’t need one with Borough Market and all those Westminster pubs within walking distance. Parking is available if you’re driving, though I’d question why you’d want to navigate central London traffic when the Tube connections are this good. The building stays quiet despite being on a main street, which probably has something to do with those thick Victorian walls.
Why Guests Love It
This isn’t trying to be the fanciest place in London, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You get the independence of having your own space, the location benefits of staying in Zone 1, and rates that won’t completely wreck your budget. The fact that you can see Buckingham Palace from some windows still gives me a little thrill — I actually spotted the Changing of the Guard from my apartment one morning while making coffee. It’s the sort of place where you feel like a temporary Londoner rather than just another tourist, which is worth quite a lot when you’re staying somewhere for more than a couple of nights.
You'll need to let the property know in advance what time you'll arrive.
