Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Bright 1 bedroom guest house in Norwood, you’ll quickly realize this isn’t your typical hotel experience. It’s one of those unique boutique places that doesn’t fit into the usual star rating system — and honestly, that’s part of its charm. The property sits quietly on a residential street, which I actually prefer since you get a real feel for how locals live in this part of South London.
The Space
The room setup is pretty clever — they’ve designed it as a proper one-bedroom guest house rather than cramming everything into a tiny hotel box. You get a separate bedroom, which means you can actually spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. The kitchen area isn’t huge, but it’s functional enough if you want to grab some groceries from the local shops and make breakfast instead of hunting down a café every morning.
Location & Getting Around
Now, Norwood isn’t exactly central London, but that’s the trade-off for getting more space and better value. You’re looking at about a 20-minute train ride into central areas, which isn’t bad at all. What I really liked is that you’re in an actual neighborhood — there’s a proper high street nearby with independent shops, and you’ll see families walking around rather than just tourists with cameras.
What Works Well
The guest house lives up to its “bright” name — there’s good natural light coming through the windows, which makes the space feel bigger than it actually is. The bed is comfortable enough, and the bathroom is clean and modern. You know what really impressed me? The little touches that show someone actually thought about what travelers need — decent WiFi, enough electrical outlets, and proper storage space.
Why Guests Love It
With an 8.4 rating, most people seem to appreciate getting genuine value for their money here. It’s not fancy or flashy, but it does what it promises — gives you a comfortable, private space to stay while exploring London. The area feels safe for walking around in the evenings, and you’ll actually save quite a bit compared to staying in Zone 1. If you’re the type who prefers having your own space over hotel amenities you’ll never use, this place makes a lot of sense.

"Very good"
The place was located right outside a bus stop. Easy access to get the train station. The family was very friendly and very helpful .would recommend this place .
What could be improved: The only issue was the shower room ,inadequate drainage, which caused the shower room to flood. This was a big issue,in which we had to put down loads of towels to try and soak up the water , and became very dangerous, as the toilet was situated in the bathroom.

"Clean and tidy but a disturbed night"
Clean and tidy
What could be improved: The duvet cover had holes in it. The shower water was impossible to contain in the bathroom/ wet room.
We had a disturbed sleep due to the owners security coming on and illuminating the bedroom ( curtain on the frosted, glazed door would be useful)
Owners crying dog woke us during the night.
Anxious moment regarding receiving the key code, only to find no key.

"Absolutely wonderful, will definitely come again."
Super nice host, walked me through everything. Property also included their own cutlery, a washing machine and oven. Bathroom was nice and modern and provided some basic shower utilities.

"Robbery at its finest"
When the guests arrived, there was no key in the key safe and we have been unable to get hold of the owner or booking.com. we had to book else where and have now been charged for both.

"Very enjoyable. Safe area, extremely kind and responsive hosts."
Large studio, lovely hosts, left two large water bottles in refrigerator (appreciated in extreme heat). Plenty of sheets, towels and very clean. 410 Bus drops you right in front of the house.
What could be improved: The shower and toilet are in the same room and the water from the shower spilled over a little into the toilet area. I was able to stop it with the two bath mats that the hosts provided.

"Very good"
