Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Brick Lane Base for the first time, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this four-star spot tucked right into one of London‘s most vibrant neighborhoods. The building itself has this industrial-chic vibe that fits perfectly with the area’s character — you know, exposed brick and clean lines without trying too hard to be trendy. What struck me immediately was how the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there, which isn’t always a given in busy London hotels.
The Heart of East London
You’re literally on Brick Lane here, which means you’re in the middle of everything that makes this part of London special. I mean, step outside and you’ve got some of the city’s best curry houses within a two-minute walk — Dishoom and Aladin are both practically neighbors. The vintage markets on weekends are incredible, and honestly, the street art changes so often that each morning feels like discovering a new outdoor gallery. What couples seem to love most (and I get why they rated the location 9.0) is that you can walk to Shoreditch’s bars and galleries, then stumble back without dealing with night buses or expensive Ubers.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — they’ve clearly put effort into making every square foot count. The bed was actually comfortable, which isn’t something I take for granted in London hotels, and the shower had proper water pressure. Storage space is limited, but there are enough hooks and shelves that you’re not living out of your suitcase. The windows face the street, so you get a bit of that Brick Lane energy even when you’re inside, though light sleepers might want to pack earplugs for weekend nights.
Food and Neighborhood Eats
While the hotel doesn’t have a full restaurant, you really don’t need one here — that’s sort of the point of staying on Brick Lane. The continental breakfast they offer is decent enough to get you started, but honestly, you’ll want to explore the bagel shops and cafés that have been feeding this neighborhood for decades. Beigel Bake is open 24 hours and about a three-minute walk — their salt beef bagels at 2 AM are something of a London institution.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place work is that it doesn’t try to compete with the grand hotels in Mayfair or Covent Garden. Instead, it gives you a comfortable base to experience one of London’s most authentic neighborhoods. The location rating speaks for itself — recent guests consistently rate it 9.0 because you’re genuinely in the thick of things without paying West End prices. Parking isn’t really an option here (this is East London, after all), but the Liverpool Street and Aldgate East stations are both walkable, so getting around the city is actually pretty straightforward. It’s the kind of place where you’ll spend minimal time in your room because there’s so much happening right outside your door.
Locals suggest to book apartments in London around South Bank for riverside dining, market stops, and easy city crossings.

What could be improved: Little bit noisy outside

"Very good"
Location
What could be improved: Honestly, during our 7-day stay we received only one towel for showering. The window could hardly be opened, so the room was not ventilated. The bathroom was very inconvenient for showering due to the fixed shower part and poor water pressure. There was also a very unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom ventilation.

"Nice room and good location"
Good comms from the property manager. Easy to get there and access room. Close enough to tube line. Clean room nice facilities and comfy. Good size for 2 people.
What could be improved: The street is very loud as lots of restaurants and bars so you do hear everything from the room. Also room isn’t really sound proof - could hear the neighbours through the walls. Space was good for 2 people but wouldn’t get a bit tight for more especially with luggage.

"a great family break in a lovely compact flat that allowed us to base ourselves in the centre of London with lots of cha"
the location was exactly what we wanted.
in the flat we had everything we needed for our two nights and was of good quality.
the room was small and compact, but has everything we needed and would stay again in this flat and location.
What could be improved: we had many issues with the wifi. although we came to London for a break, the internet was still essential as i needed to do some work and for the tv to work. so we was unable to watch our film.
my phone reception was not great so needed the wifi.
There was two options, one worked and the other did not.
this isn’t a complaint, but was a little disappointed in this.

"Very nice two days stay on Brick Lane!"
The apartament is in a very good neighborhood, easy to access. The owner June was very nice and responded quickly to enquiries.
What could be improved: A bit small for a family but it seems to be often the case in London.

Newly renovated apartment in a great neighbourhood. It is very quiet, despite being in a vibrant area full of restaurants and bars and close to tube stations.
What could be improved: The apartment is very small. The pics on the website are a bit deceiving, but it worked out for us well anyway!

"Very nice studio, close to everything and recently renovated."
Position is strategic, close to metro stations, various shops and restaurants. The apartment has been recently renovated, it has all you may need and the check in was super easy with codes in all the doors. The host was quick and friendly in the communication.
What could be improved: It is too small for 3 or more, no room for luggages, the sofa-bed wasn't very comfy neither very clean. A bit noisy. The only window has old frame and it rattled for the wind during night.

"Lovely apartment in a great location – with room for small improvements"
Overall, we had a very good stay! The apartment is in a great location, beautifully furnished, and the price-performance ratio is really good.
The host was friendly, although it sometimes took a little while to get a reply. The deposit payment didn’t go through, but thankfully the check-in still worked without any problems. One thing to note: the mattress on the bed is quite worn out and should probably be replaced. Also, the windows aren’t very well insulated, so you can hear some noise from outside – though I personally still slept well.
All in all, a nice stay and I would definitely recommend the
