Overview
First Impressions
Tucked away on a quiet residential street in South Kensington, Blossom apartment with garden sits in a beautiful Victorian basement conversion that honestly surprised me. You know what caught my attention first? The private garden access — not something you expect from most three-star accommodations in this part of London. The entrance feels more like you’re visiting a friend’s place than checking into typical tourist lodging.
The Space
The apartment itself is compact but thoughtfully laid out, with original period features that give it real character. The main room doubles as both living and sleeping area, and while it’s not huge, the high ceilings and large windows make it feel much more spacious than you’d expect from a basement flat. I mean, the garden view actually makes you forget you’re below street level. The kitchen is small but has everything you need — I managed to make proper coffee and even cooked a simple breakfast without any issues.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about Brechin Place — it’s one of those residential streets that locals love because it’s peaceful, but you’re literally a three-minute walk from South Kensington tube station. The Natural History Museum is practically around the corner, and you can easily walk to Hyde Park or pop over to Harrods if that’s your thing. What I really appreciated was having actual neighborhood cafés and pubs nearby, not just tourist traps.
The Garden Experience
The private garden is honestly what sets this place apart from other budget-friendly options in the area. It’s not massive, but there’s something quite lovely about having your morning coffee outside in central London — especially when you’re surrounded by greenery and can’t hear the traffic. During my stay, I spent most evenings out there just unwinding after days of sightseeing. The garden furniture is simple but comfortable, and the whole space feels like a little oasis.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t a fancy hotel with room service and concierge — it’s more like borrowing a friend’s well-located London flat. The value is solid for what you get, especially considering you’re in one of London’s pricier neighborhoods. The host was responsive when I had questions, and the whole experience felt authentic rather than cookie-cutter. If you’re looking for somewhere with personality that won’t break the bank while keeping you close to major attractions, this actually works really well. Just don’t expect hotel amenities — but honestly, that’s part of its charm.

Location was great.
What could be improved: It is an old basement apartment. It has been renovated - the kitchen is brand new. But still - it is an underground apartment with no direct street access and entrance down a dark and steep staircase, which is fine until somebody starts knocking at the door in 4 a.m. and you realize there is no way to escape. Which happened to us because the neighbors couldn't open their door and for some reason tried ours.... And for the last two days we didn't have hot water or any contact with the host to explain how to start the waterheater. It was the weekend but still - I left a message in the app, tried to call the number - nothing.

"A well-situated apartment."
Very clean, recently renovated, location close to stores and restaurants,
What could be improved: WiFi never worked despite landlord trying various options - if you don't have a free unlimited hot-spot connection on your mobile phone contract, it could be expensive.
Plumbing needs fixing - very low cold water pressure.

"A good location for a weekend in London"
The location is perfect. Near the tube station and in a very nice street with restaurants, supermarkets and cafes.
What could be improved: The stairs to reach the flat are a bit narrow and slippery. They could be a problem for children or old people.

"Enjoyable stay in a great location!"
Immaculate apartment in a great location close to several attractions and tube station. Spacious for two - one of us in the bedroom and the other on the futon. Both were comfortable enough. Airy and good light for a basement apartment with access to a back garden. Really appreciated how clean the place was on arrival.
What could be improved: Nothing. Bathroom perhaps a bit dated but very clean so no issue for us.

"Felt insecure and had safety issues"
Location very good for where we wanted, Royal Albert Hall and museums etc.
What could be improved: This flat had two recent 10 star ratings, so I felt happy to book here. When we got there, Friday, we were sent several door key codes and a wifi code and a mobile number on a message. The stairs to the flat are steep, narrow and dark. The light is automatic but only turns on halfway down. We used our phone torches. In the flat, we couldn't connect to the extended WiFi box. They stopped communicating with us after 3 messages and said no one else had a problem, so it must be us. I tried calling the property mobile number in the app, but no answer. We noticed the radiators were very dusty, and the bathroom radiator and taps were rusty. I asked about the cleaner as there were no cleaning materials. Next morning they replied in the app that the cleaner only comes after you leave. We opened the door to the "garden", which was unlocked as the bolts didn't work and we couldn't secure it properly. Some leaves blew in, so we found a dustpan and vacuum in the boiler cupboard, but it was all soaking wet. We noticed a leak and black mould and a condensate pipe leaking into the cupboard. The floor under the leak was badly damaged. There was a mat soaking up the leak. Condensate is acid and can be harmful to health, so I reported to booking.com as I know this fault would not pass a gas safety test. The boiler is in the room with the sofa bed. We got a bang on the door 10am Sunday morning, we were in our pj's. I opened the flat door and a woman barged past me, without speaking to me and looked round the flat. She took videos of the boiler and sent voicenotes to someone. I told her the leak was not new, from the extent of the damage she said "I know'. She left without speaking to us. There are 3 big steps down into the kitchen, which all looked fairly new. There were extension leads plugged into other extension leads to put a lamp by the sofa bed. I spoke to booking.

Emplacement parfait! Lits confortables
What could be improved: Manque de propreté à certains endroits et manque d'équipements (étendoir, grande casserole, passoire, plus de vaisselle...)

"Un maraton printre muzee, stradi boeme si parcuri, totul scaldat in soare si stropi de ploaie."
Amplasarea intr-un cartier foarte frumos si aproape de Hyde Park si muzee, accesul usor la metrou, magazine si restautante.
What could be improved: Mi-ar fi placut sa fie mai calduros apartamentul, temperatura constanta fiind intre 19-20 grade.

"Super emplacement."
