Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Bermondsey Square Hotel – A Bespoke Hotel on Tower Bridge Road, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical chain hotel. The Victorian facade blends seamlessly with the modern touches, and there’s something refreshingly understated about the whole approach. I mean, when a hotel calls itself “bespoke,” you’d expect some pretension, but honestly, this place delivers on that promise without being stuffy about it.
The Neighborhood Feel
What I love about staying here is how you’re dropped right into authentic London life in Southwark. Bermondsey Square itself buzzes with that antique market on Fridays — you know, the kind where actual locals hunt for treasures alongside curious tourists. You’re a genuine five-minute walk to London Bridge, and Tower Bridge is practically on your doorstep, but somehow you avoid that tourist-trap feeling that plagues hotels closer to the Thames Path.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had this clever mix of industrial touches and warm fabrics that actually worked — exposed brick paired with deep jewel tones and seriously comfortable bedding. Each room feels different (hence the whole bespoke thing), so you’re not getting cookie-cutter hotel vibes. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, with rainfall showers that deliver proper pressure — something you can’t always count on in London hotels, honestly.
Food and Social Spaces
The ground-floor restaurant serves up modern British fare that’s genuinely good, not just hotel-good. I had dinner there on my first night and ended up chatting with other guests at the bar — it has that kind of relaxed atmosphere where conversations happen naturally. Breakfast is solid too, with locally sourced ingredients and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since dawn. The communal spaces feel lived-in rather than designed to death, if that makes sense.
Why Guests Love It
This four-star spot gets the balance right between professional service and personal touches. The staff actually remember your name after the first day, and they’re locals who can point you toward the best pubs in Borough Market or tell you which entrance to use for the Shard to skip the crowds. You’re paying for location and character here, and honestly, both deliver. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere special in London, not just sleeping somewhere convenient to London’s attractions.
Guest reviews
"Clean place, not too pricey for me."
It was clean, the price was not that bad for a 4 star hotel and balcony. I had to book this hotel last minute due to finding bed bugs at a previous hotel I went to. This one was much cleaner and way better. No musty smells or anything. Rooms had AC and the building was nice and warm.
What could be improved: I forgot to bring an adapter for the charging port, asked the receptionist for one she said she would look if I could borrow one but that I could purchase one if they don’t have one to lend me. She didn’t even look if they had one to lend and instead just made me buy one straight away, seemed like she disliked her job and disliked me for whatever reason. (Jealousy prehaps)

"Good value for money and would return"
It was clean, rooms were bright and coffee, biscuits, water provided as part of the cost. Staff were extremely helpful and informative. Breakfast was value for money as was the service at breakfast time. The waitress/manager on during our stay was exceptionally nice.
What could be improved: Unfortunately the main bus 188 to the centre of London from the hotel was out of commission for the duration of our stay so getting to and from the hotel was more inconvenient than expected. But this was not the fault of the hotel.

"Nice location, city center"
Close to the bus station, connections to city center. The room was clean and the hotel too. View to the city attractions. There were some beverages and biscuits available in the room. English breakfast included, good atmosphere. Wellcoming staff.
What could be improved: The furniture was somehow old and a little damaged. The shower was working but was rusty. The window does not open. There is no closet to put your clothes, only coathangers.

"Very nice, but still quite expensive stay (well, it's London) in the beautiful Bermondsey area"
The way the room was divided between the bed part and the working desk (we had the room connecting to the outside shared terrace).
What could be improved: The fact that you charge you £27,50 for two simple omelettes while boiled eggs and scrambled eggs as part of English breakfast are included in the breakfast.
I understand that smoking is not allowed in the room, but also prohibited smoking outside on every location on the huge terrace is a bit exaggerated.
