First Impressions

When I first walked up to 3 bed home by Canning Town station, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this four-star property on Barking Road. Honestly, the building looks pretty typical for East London — nothing fancy from the outside — but that’s kind of the point. You’re getting a proper three-bedroom flat in a real neighborhood, not some sterile hotel experience.

Location & Getting Around

The location is actually brilliant if you know London at all. Canning Town station is literally right there, which means you’ve got the Jubilee line taking you straight into central London in about 20 minutes. Plus, you’ve got the DLR for easy access to Canary Wharf and the City Airport — something I wish I’d known about earlier in my travels. The area itself is pretty multicultural with loads of good curry houses and Caribbean spots within walking distance.

The Space

Inside, the flat surprised me with how spacious it actually feels. The main room has decent natural light, and there’s enough space for a family or group of friends without everyone stepping on each other. The kitchen is well-equipped — I mean, you can actually cook here if you want to save some money instead of eating out every meal. Each bedroom is a proper size too, not those cramped hotel rooms where you can barely open your suitcase.

Practical Details

What I really appreciated were the little things that make a difference when you’re staying somewhere for more than just a night or two. There’s decent WiFi throughout, the heating works properly (important in London!), and you’ve got washing facilities which is huge if you’re traveling for a week or more. The apartment feels lived-in but clean, if that makes sense — like staying at a friend’s place rather than some corporate accommodation.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t going to win any design awards, but it does exactly what it promises. You get a genuine London residential experience in an area that’s well-connected but still affordable. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me — people appreciate getting good value and a real sense of the city. It’s perfect if you want to experience London like a local rather than being stuck in the tourist bubble around Westminster or Covent Garden.

"Second times a charm x"
Always a easy and simple check in, stayed here a couple times now! Love how easily located from the station it is and how close to shops. Perfect little get away with a beautiful balcony! Look forward to staying again soon x

Good location when working at the ExCel, just a couple of bus stops away with plenty shops around. Good value for rental price. Very fast reaction to messages and always trying to solve the problem as fast as possible.
What could be improved: The kitchen equipment could be better (dishes, dish towels), also the heating regulation was difficult. A second set of keys would be helpful for a group.

The building itself is new, but unfortunately very poorly maintained. There was an unpleasant smell in the common areas and stairwell. The apartment was fine inside, but overall this is definitely not a 10/10 place. I would rate it closer to a 2-star standard, similar to a typical basic UK apartment.

"FAV EAST LONDON FLAT"
Lovely spacious flat! Hosts were so helpful and always a message away to help with anything I needed! Location was perfect from the station too and even the neighbours were lovely! Already booked in for another visit!
What could be improved: Downstairs door was a little difficult to get in and out of, the magnet kept getting jammed. But other than that can’t fault it
